The University of Florida has rescinded a football scholarship offer to a high school prospect for using the n-word while rapping along with a song.
Standout quarterback Marcus Stokes, of Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, posted a video of himself mimicking the lyric as he rode in a car.
“Welcome back, n—-,” he can be heard saying in the since-deleted two-second clip.
“I was in my car listening to rap music, rapping along to the words and posted video of it to social media,” Stokes wrote in a statement Sunday. “I deeply apologize for the words in the song which I chose to say.”

I’m no expert on rap, other than knowing you can’t spell crap without rap, but isn’t it mandatory to have ‘’nigger” in the lyrics, err, words?

I suppose he apologized because he wanted to be sure of a scholarship offer from another college. Can’t imagine any other plausible reason.
I’ve read that he had a mediocre senior year and the gators have another QB they want to sign.
Not Nigger but just nigga...so it’s not as bad. If people want to complain they need to tell rappers to clean up their language (which will never happen).
If he wasn’t a white boy, it would never have been raised for discussion. Some of these kids are surrounded by Rap everyday if they chose to be. The lingo is going to stick.
Hopefully, this young man will find another, less hypocritial source for a scholarship. This too will pass.

The Gators would have taken this guy along with the more highly ranked QB.
The head coach, Athletic Department and University had no choice but to pull the scholarship offer, it’s unfortunate, it’s the political time we live, allowing him to be on the team with a scholarship would have created all kinds of negative press for a player that is talented in HS but could be a total bust in the SEC.
The head coach is simply not going to risk creating a major distraction over 1 player that’s unproven.
