I live in an early-60's-build house. For the most part, it's wonderful, but it has very little insulation. I've been meaning to rectify that, but didn't yet.
So, after spending a warm night buried under blankets, I wake up to a shivering-cold set of rooms, all under 60 degrees F.... even though me and the missus set all the baseboard heating to max and left both space heaters going.
So, I decide to go to Walmart. I find two pallets of space heaters, one of them Infra-red, and one of them Oil-radiant. Both are electric.
I go ahead and put one of each in my cart, get a few food items, then decide to pick up one more Infra-red heater.... maybe 5 minutes later.
BOTH PALLETS ARE CLEANED OUT... when I get to the register, everyone had a pair of those heaters in their cart.
This is what Mother Nature calls “THE GREAT RESET”..............
How did you get that title like that?..............
I installed a wood stove in my last house when my family was young. After a trip to the burn unit when a little one put his palm on the stove, I stopped using it until we left that house. Still miss it.
I miss northern Sicily, too! and the rest of southern Italy. Several trips there. Heaven on earth for foodies, history buffs, boating, island culture, art, music, artisan goods, antiquities, archaeology, etc... Buon Natale!
This is what happened to us by using a portable heater. You can see the heater in the center of the photo at the link below. The wiring behind the wall overheated and failed spectacularly. Consider yourself warned . . .

BTW, if you want your home thoroughly trashed, invite the local Fire Department.

Hit 6ยฐF in GA last week. Insulation isnโt great, so heaters were on pretty much continuously. Did charge 4500 Wh of batteries in case the electric heat abusers took the grid down.
Grew up in NY with wood heat. Bedroom could get down to 56ยฐ. Skied at -25ยฐ. Unimpressed by โcoldโ. GA born Yankee/Canuck offspring not so keen on it.
