When Social Security was set up in 1935 the life expectancy of a man born in 1935 was 60; a woman’s was 64. The system was never designed to help retirees, it was just another scheme to collect taxes—and it has backfired bigly and I for one am glad of it.

My Grandmother managed to retire at the age of 62, and lived to be 93. I bet the govt. wasn’t planning on people living as long as she did.
