I agree with a lot of your analysis.

Bottom line, whether WMD and vaccines are to be seen in pejorative lights for their Republican advocates does not matter to the larger picture of choosing lesser poisons in politics.

I am surprised by your RBG analysis. It seems that John Roberts under Bush explains how terribly wrong a SC pick could have gone under Trump.

I am frankly relieved and somewhat surprised that Trump— despite being rather favorable to abortion rights— allowed pro life nominees to advance under his choices.

To say “it doesn’t matter” is plainly absurd and why FR degenerates into counterproductive discussion.

If Kamala/ Joe when re-election, that is much worse for America and all of us.

What is clearly happening in every election is that the 25% of ‘best conservative’ are deciding that the necessary lesser 25% necessary to win are excluded from participation in an electoral win.

That does not make sense. Admitting that Bush was good in his context rather than superimposing on the present is the sensible political realism.Right now Trump is literally the only alternative and its crazy to compel him to admit that operation Warp Speed was a disaster.

he can argue correctly that he did not make the jab mandatory. He can also argue that he had somewhat better positions on this than DeSantis.

"...counterproductive discussion..."

Sure, if you disagree with my point, it is counterproductive to yours, I suppose. But it is discussion, that is what we are here for, eh?

Not sure why the truth about RBG is 'surprising'. She gambled. She died. Trump did not make that happen. His picks, so far, are OK. You mention Roberts in regard to Bush. But don't forget the BushI / BushII picks of Thomas and Alito are the ones who killed Roe when RBG died after gambling on Hillary to win. Stubborn, selfish behavior can hurt your main cause. Cough, cough....Trump, SwampJab....

Trump is the only declared candidate, certainly NOT the only option for 2024. We don't know the options yet.

Call me crazy all day. Trump should admit that Warp Speed was and is a yuge failure. He is fine with the swamp as long as he is involved and can imagine/take credit for something. He gave BigPharma, who already owns Congress and the media, more tax money, more power and more protection from justice. Perhaps it's a secret plan to drain the swamp by over-filling it - with my money.

Trump is NOT principle-driven. He is a populist politician. I know he acts like we should worship him, but in reality if enough people on our side criticize / steer him, he will perhaps turn Right once in a while. Lots of Left turns lately. Infatuated Trump supporters making excuses for wrong behavior will result in more wrong behavior. Not in much needed course corrections. That's science talking.
