“Why is population growth either a good thing or even necessary?”

Because boomers need more suckers to keep paying for their social security.

This is the thing that a lot of conservatives don’t get surprisingly. Theres a lot of attention about the immigration problem but not very much attention toward the plummeting fertility rate across Western countries that is driving much of the immigration. Nature abhors a vacuum. Its going to be less and less effective telling other people they can’t come in as our population dwindles.

If we don’t fix this it won’t matter how well we lock up the border.

Twenty percent of the population has been killed by abortions. Plus all the other deaths both natural and not natural. Somebody has to pay for social security and all the money that is being sent to Ukraine. Is it any wonder that there is a labor shortage. Soon there will not be a clear majority anymore.

And everything you describe was and is being done on purpose by politicians voted in by the useful idiots who then wonder why everything is going south. These idiots can not even understand that they are responsible...directly...for societal rot.

I expect that stat changed in Texas. Abortions are down 99% since the overturning of Roe v Wade.

Europeans and their descendants are not reproducing themselves. Politicians see their power and money waning, and so they encourage people with a known astronomically high birth rate to come to the USA where they can live off the money produced by the descendants of Europeans who go to work faithfully every day to pay the taxes that go to the breeders who are streaming through the borders and who will vote for the politicians who let them in to replace the descendants of Europeans.

Meanwhile, the descendants of Europeans walk around with their fingers up their noses, unaware that they are paying their replacements to replace them.

Little known fact...

In 2019 - a full employment year, before Covid - the birth rate for immigrant women in the USA dropped below replacement level for the first time since records began in the 1890s.

The USA can resolve its aging population problem by investing heavily in automation and expert software, and by importing 100,000 of the smartest, most creative, and most energetic young people in the world every year.

It's not so much the cost of kids. It was the shift from an agrarian based economy to a manufacturing and now a service/info based economy.

When we had farms you needed hands to make it work...hence a lot of kids..hopefully boys as they are stronger than girls.

I imagine some were having relations for more than just having kids.

That’s true, but it goes even further: kids are now a liability, not an asset like being future labor on the farm.

That of course is short sighted: even kids you have to spend tons of money on to educate them become workers who prop up the social welfare ponzi schemes. But if you’re White, that spending is enormous: no college subsidies for you.

So unless you aren’t going to worry about things like getting a useful degree, you have to consider the future costs. And they’re considerable.

U.S. fertility rate is now well below the replacement level.

Wait for tit Biden will say he single handle fixed the problem by importing illegals to mend the problem media gives praise.

They certainly USED TO need permission. But ever since we stopped requiring that, the West has COLLAPSED, demographically, but I do get that SOME PEOPLE only care about themselves and their own careers.

Yes-

Although it must be stated that the underlying philosophy which is driving this started a long time ago.

It’s not something which just happened by coincidence.

Today people embrace this ideology and even think themselves better for it. They have been taught in a grade schools and universities that this is ethical, scientific (i.e. logical and rational), the responsible or professional thing to do. Hollywood and the other arts (music / literature) reinforce this ideology and even amplify it. The news media is politically aligned and in the sales business. The news media is not objective nor fair or open minded. They are selling 24/7 and even the news is nothing but stories intended to promote some sort of consumption (i.e. a story about this years new and more dangerous flu, followed by a news story about the new vaccine which is out, with a Pfizer commercial between it all): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAkQlZgnbUQ Thee is no such thing as a free lunch and you are not paying for the news nor social media.

Employers don’t help the situation because they are near sighted (quarterly and annual profits) and bottom line driven only for their microcosm (the bottom line of their business - which is the way it’s supposed to be for them).

The political leadership and especially the government bureaucracy which should have the broader and more strategic view doesn’t because it panders and is for sale. Often they are themselves idiots like AOC, Maxine Waters, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton etc. They are smart enough to personally enrich themselves, but often neither have a clue of why their community is failing nor have any true solutions to offer other than throwing more money at it. Their solution is akin to a parent trying to help a heroin addicted child by giving them ever more money. They keep getting elected because they fit the right demographic, but the demographic electing them isn’t improving no matter how many special programs, quota’s, etc. are created.

***The true problem in the West is a leadership issue.***

Biden, Garland, idiots like Buttigieg... Clowns. Morons. The world would literally be better off if they made no decisions and simply collected a paycheck for doing nothing.

We do not have leaders. Reagan and Trump were two, but they only slow the decent because the system at this point (education, government bureaucracy, health care, etc) have bought into what are self destructive ideas institutionally. Look at the EPA, Department of Education, or DOJ and the sort of trash they push... they are advocating far left progressive ideas and in fact go after those that propose any sort of course correction, in the DOJ’s case even labeling them as “threats.”

It took decades to get to the stupid place where we find ourselves today.

Look up the Immigration act of 1965.

Yes, that law was a world-shaking landmark - and what I found notable is the fact that it was decided in Congress with relatively little public debate; almost surreptitiously.

In 1965, if I’m not wrong, the public opinion in the USA was not much concerned with immigration, but rather with the civil rights issue for blacks.

Could you correct me if I’m wrong about this?
