Alex Murdaugh, the patriarch of a prominent South Carolina family, seemed to have it all: a loving wife, two beautiful sons, and a successful law career. However, his presumably happy facade would soon crumble and his wife, Maggie, and youngest son, Paul, would be shot to death on the Murdaugh family land on June 7, 2021.

“why is this particular murder trial of National interest?”
His son and wife being murdered is only a part of the story......to much to go into here, but if you go ALL the way back to the beginning it would make it abundantly clear.
A couple of other people died under mysterious circumstances around this family.....one being the housekeeper right in the family home.
If you do the research I think you’ll find it compelling, I sure did.
Hollywood could make at least 3 movies out of this mess....maybe even 4.
See my post 21
There is a 3 part Netflix series aboutthe Murdaugh murders that began about a week ago. Millions have already viewed that documentary
“ What I’m curious about is why is this particular murder trial of National interest?
Gruesome murders go on trial somewhere almost everyday. Why does this one warrant live coverage on all major news sources?”

Just out of curiosity, have you yourself been ignoring the case to the extent you can?
Your theory seems to be a popular one that I also see as logical.
The attorney for the family of the girl killed in the boat accident said he was planning on filing a 10 MILLION dollar lawsuit.....couple that with disbarment, termination from the lawfirm, multiple financial crime charges pending a sick mom and dad and mix in some oxy and who knows what could happen.
Desperate attempt to “protect” the empire. The son’s boat accident was too big to sweep under the rug, and a whole bunch of stuff probably would have come out if that went to trial. And the wife was rumored to be seeking divorce, the forensic accounting that goes with big money divorces can unravel a lot of secrets.
Small town empires are very interesting. Especially when they unravel and a whole bunch of dirt comes out. The Murdaugh’s have been running that area for 4 generations with lots of bad behavior swept away with well placed phone calls.
“ I enjoyed listening to Murdaugh talk. He has an authentic, native SC accent. Also he uses all the idiosyncratic SC phrases and tics.”

I too like to listen to SOCIOPATHIC MASTER MANIPULATORS to pick up on all their tricks. The “aw, shucks” affectations they situationally employ as one of their “tools of the trade” is also very interesting.
So he shot them to shut them up? Plausible. Wonder what happened to the boat wreck trial? Pau Pau’s death wouldn’t have stopped a civil suit.
I seem to recall that he admitted lying about that.
Would hate to be on this jury.
Or at least make discovery go away. No criminal trial with Paul dead, civil suits can be made to go away easy, just throw money at em. And just look at what happened when director John McTiernan got divorced, all the mess of that landed him in jail.
You’re right. Mallory’s estate got peanuts. It started out as a 50 million civil suit.
Renee Beach, Mallory’s mother and personal representative of her daughter’s estate will receive a $275,000 settlement from the sale of the Murdaugh family’s nearly $4 million Moselle property across Hampton and Colleton Counties

“””Wonder what happened to the boat wreck trial? Pau Pau’s death wouldn’t have stopped a civil suit.”””
Paul’s death stopped the criminal trial against him.
The civil suit is still ongoing. The civil suit would have been stronger if Paul had been convicted of driving the boat while he was intoxicated.
Also HBO-I watched it last.It was very in Depth.
He ain’t been framed
The man is guilty as sin
The man had a pill addiction. Don’t look for logic from him

So replace my ???’s above with the name of any small town with at least one powerful and often secretive family.
Interesting epiphany on your part, but why would the Low Country be any different from the rest of the country? Corruption, your names are law and politics.
