We spent 7 months examining the AR-15’s role in America. Here’s what we learned.
WAPO ^ | 3-27-23 | Washington Post Staff

The gun’s brutal efficiency: The AR-15’s mechanics, which allow shooters to easily fire bullets at a high velocity in rapid succession, make the weapon lethal and destructive. When the bullets penetrate the body, they create a blast effect that blows up organs and pulverizes bones. The weapon’s power magnifies the impact of gun violence, both because of the number of victims and, for survivors, the long-lasting effects on physical and mental health.

America’s biggest problem is the virus of marxism.

Exactly correct Washington Compost. Highly necessary if it becomes necessary to defend the Constitution if CW2 breaks out. Don't forget WAPO, the Second Amendment was, by design, included into the Constitution to keep a tyrannical government

AT BAY.

Sounds like it written by idiots.

I have a theory when a multi-author piece is presented by the AP, WaPo, NYT, or other MSM site that the stupidity of the piece is in direct proportion to the number of authors. This has 14 contributing reporters and 12 text editors. I don't know if a scale exists that is large enough to measure this level of stupidity.

If someone spent 7 months on that subject, they are a moron. That’s what I learned by the title.

The difference is a deer rifle fires a round sufficiently powerful to humanely kill a deer.

These “reporters” seemingly know nothing about anything more powerful than a Daisy Red Rider.

Easily debunked.

Consider Newton Law #2.

F=ma. Force equals mass times acceleration. Assuming equivalent acceleration (actually, DEceleration, Newton's third law states equal and opposite reaction...)

So a heavier projectile stopped by a target will experience more force than a lighter one.

From Wiki...

An average 223 bullet from an AR will yield 1,715 J, whereas a 300g will yield nearly 4,000 J.

Emotional arguments can't handle simple physics.

"Outgunned police: Police departments that once deferred to SWAT teams wielding military-style rifles for active-shooter situations have started equipping officers with AR-15s and other long guns, as those weapons have flooded the neighborhoods they patrol. Many officers welcome the change, some buying their own AR-15s and using them for sport. But police often say they still feel outgunned and ill-prepared ..."

Departments started putting patrol rifles in cars for exactly the opposite reason that these reporters are claiming.  For decades, police in America would have their pistols (old school .38 special, later 9mm semi-automatics) and a 12-gauge pump action shotgun.  Shotguns are great, powerful, and you can feed them shot or slugs as the situation demands, but deparmental risk management groups came to realize that a 12 guage is just "too much gun" for a lot of law enforcement problems.

The solution? The relatively more accurate, and much less powerful AR, usually chambered in the civilian .223 cartridge.  Much less risk of over-penetration compared to a 12 guage slug or even buckshot, and zero "spread" compared to shot.

If the writers didn't know this, they could have easily discovered the reasoning.  But it's likely that they do know the truth, and they're just lying.

Par for the course for the press.

Boy, I am so glad an ar-15 can do all those things. Now when can I get my F-15?

The Washington Post is one to talk. Forty years ago they claimed Glocks were terrorist plastic pistol that passed through X-ray machines.

What the press opposes, they use Alinsky techniques to create language to imbue their target with near magical powers as the embodiment of Evil. Anyone who disagrees with the press is stupid and immoral out of hand, probably thinks Darth Vader is a good role model. Opposing facts are turned into straw men and silenced. How Trump and conservatives are treated in the national news today, is exactly how gun control and gun owners were treated almost exclusively in the 1980s-90s.

And the press wonders why on average the public trust them about as much as Congress. '

You typical mass-murderer wanna-be isn’t a “gun guy,” it’s a social misfit who only knows about guns what the MSM feeds it.

The reason so many mass-murderers choose the AR isn’t because it’s the most devastating weapon on the planet (hell, it’s a “poodle-shooter”), they use if because that’s what the MSM tells them the aspiring mass-murderer needs to be using.
