Shocking video captured the moment a brazen band of bandits sprinted out of a Gucci store in Los Angeles after swiping thousands of dollars’ worth of luxury items – as a security guard walked helplessly behind them.
Nine men wearing hoodies are seen dashing out of the swanky store at the Westfield Century City mall at about 3 p.m. Monday carrying pricey bags and suitcases as onlookers record them on their phones.
One apparent store employee wearing a suit calls 911 and makes a feeble attempt to grab one of the thieves during the chaotic incident.
And a seemingly nonchalant security guard in uniform follows the gang out the door slowly as he makes a phone call – presumably to the cops.
During their flight, some of the men dropped a few items, which those behind them pick up.

A certain relative of mine (insert joke here; I can take it) is a bigwig in a major jewelry company.
You have to make an appointment to get into the store. There is no waking in, just for this reason.
He predicts more and more stores will be moving to either this model or a membership model where you have to have an ID and credit card on file and pass a background check to get in. Akin to Sam’s club, but more more serious about not letting non-vetted people in.

Sounds like CA where the rents cop will go to prison if he physically tries to stop the theives.
In Texas, they can.
They know if they get caught they'll be back on the street in hours. Charges will be "running in a mall" or something equally ridiculous.
He didn't want to be fired--but he may be, anyway, for calling the cops.
Why is it shocking? This has become common place.

Similar event here in Cincinnati a year or so ago. Guys cleaned out a Louis Vuitton store the same way. Had to be an inside job. Nevr heard of a resolution to the case.
The word Gucci must mean suckers. Why would Gucci even let these people into their store?
LA’s a democrat hellhole... large scale theft is the norm.
Just yesterday as I was walking into my grocery store a guy walked out shirt stuffed with food before staff could even react.
In talking to one of the employees at checkout that witnessed the theft, she said they are instructed NOT to attempt to intervene or detain a shoplifter.
A poor policy IMO.
In contrast, there’s a Khol’s department store that shares the same parking lot as the grocery store.
Without fail, for the last 5 years in a row I’ve seen a police car in front of the store with someone the back, that more than likely is a shoplifter that will be prosecuted.
Prosecution is a very effective deterant IMO.

The New York Post tries on some new, cutesy language. Yet, due to the facts behind it, this descriptor will become "racist" in a year or so. Now, why on earth would that be?
