Cars can be drug on to flatbeds with a winch. Even with all four tires locked up. No reason for it to tie up traffic for nine hours.
Also running out of power is not the same as “bricked”.
Running out of battery, like running out of gas, is not the car’s fault.
I wonder if this could happen to an Amish Buggy.
This does not mean EVs should be scrapped
Actually we should double down and require as a Term of Employment that every Public Employee in America be forbidden from using, owning or possessing any ICE powered vehicle.
Get a bazooka and blow the damn thing up.
Mmmmm, imagine this in the middle of an evacuation. You know, Hurricane, tornado, fire.
You can put a Tesla into ‘tow mode’. Which releases the electronic brake and allows the car to be push/rolled by one person.
More driver ignorance. Not the car’s fault.
Ain’t gummit subsidies wonderful.
You would THINK that the idiot running the DOT would make it a requirement that a vehicle be rollable when electronically disabled. Too busy looking for equity, I suppose.
Technology is great until it stops working and makes complete fools of the people who are using it.
Another example of something humans have created but don’t know how to control.
Has anyone asked AAA how it plans to handle millions of EVs that won’t move? Charging their batteries takes a long time and makes each service call VERY expensive. EVs are heavy thanks to the batteries, and towing them becomes a totally different thing than what it is now.
The future that the dems have planned for us consists of being stuck in your EV on a highway - you can’t walk to anywhere civilized to get warm, use the bathroom, eat, or rest. You’ll be waiting in the EV for hours in the dark and cold. And possibly die. The dems don’t mind that - too many Americans anyway.
electric cars are not ready for prime time. Maybe in 10 years.
I didn’t know they had a tow truck shortage on the Salisbury Plain.
Nine hours? No tow trucks in the UK?
Towing companies will need to have an EV charger on the truck with a long extension cord.
Sound like a job for Repo Man!
“the handbrakes of electric cars... are controlled electronically”
That’s not the smartest idea.
Progress: bigger and better mistakes.

It seems clearer and clearer that the EV endgame intention is not a swap of evs for gas and diesel vehicles. The fact that the powers pushing for ev only sales refuse to seriously discuss or implement massive deployment of charging stations says they want most people to take public transport or wak, bicycle etc knstead of their gasoline cars.
The press is really weird about electric cars. On the one hand they say we should all drive them to combat climate change, while at the same time posting every negative story they can about them catching on fire, or running out of charge in the middle of the street.
An electric car catches on fire in a garage somewhere, and they’re all over it. While a Ferrari catches on fire because they adhere the heat shields to the sides of the engine compartment with flammable glue? Not a peep.
