EU to start discussing 12th sanctions package against Russia next week
European Pravda,
Ukrainska Pravda
Wednesday, 8 November 2023, 17:26
https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2023/11/8/7427844/

The EU member states will start discussing the propositions concerning the 12th sanctions package against Russia, which will focus on banning Russian diamond trade, next week.

SOURCE: the Reuters agency, with reference to the EU diplomats and a European official on condition of anonymity, as reported by European Pravda

DETAILS: The discussion of new sanctions got off the ground after the G7 Foreign Ministers had given green light to the implementation of restrictions on the diamonds of Russian origin at the meeting in Japan.

An EU representative cited by Reuters stated that a current timeframe for a European Commission proposal for the sanctions package which would then be considered by 27 EU governments was “early next week”.

“The plan is that the Commission adopts the package in the coming days. Then it’ll be for the Council to adopt,” the source said.

One of the EU diplomats told Reuters that Belgium’s proposition concerning imposing restrictions on Russian diamonds may be brought up during the discussions. The proposition provides for the control of the origin of sold jewellery.

Poland, in its turn, insisted on complete ban of Russian diamonds and liquefied petroleum gas, and Estonia suggested adding liquefied natural gas to the sanctions list, but these propositions are unlikely to be included in the package.

BACKGROUND:

• According to the Bloomberg agency, the propositions for the 12th sanctions package provide for limiting trade of goods with a total worth of €5 billion.

• The new package may include over 100 physical and 40 legal entities. The ban of hiring Russians in the so-called “sensitive” sectors and repatriation of Russian assets in the EU is also being considered.

I wonder if you know who has plans to actually participate in threads outside their own when the war ends? I’d get lonely talking to myself all night.

Man Claiming To Be Former Driver For Zelensky’s Wife’s Foundation Makes Video Accusing The Foundation of Involvement In Child Sex Trafficking

A man who claims to be a former employee of Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska’s foundation says that the Olena Zelenska Foundation was involved with child sex trafficking. As a driver of supposedly war-endangered children, the man says that he was forced to drive children from cities in Ukraine and deliver them to pedophiles elsewhere in Europe, including in extremely wealthy and well-connected areas in London and Berlin.

Save it. Aside from pimping monetized YouTube channels, it’s the same BS every day. Here’s one that gets posted over and over and over again:

“At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on Melitopol axis and offensive (assault) operations on Bakhmut axis, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy all along the front line.”

"To win the war one needs weapons, and to make the weapons cheaper you have to produce them domestically. That’s why Ukraine is investing massive efforts in building military plants and facilities for domestic production of ammunition, drones, artillery and many more."

Not one penny more of US taxpayers' money should pay for this. Do you agree or disagree?

Unfortunately for Youcrayne, one can't "manufacture" young men for the globalist filthbag Zelenskyyyyyyy™ to send off to pointless deaths. . .

Nice try at discrediting anything or anyone who throws stones at the vile people you support. A classic leftist/globalist/RINO move. As an ordained UMC minister you should be ashamed of yourself for supporting the sickeningly corrupt Youcrayne. Ugh.

Speaking of unreliable sources, why is the known draft dodging grifter and Youke jingoist Denys Davydov the backbone of your endless propaganda blasts?

--- "Unreliable sources...."

As often documented by such as YouTube itself, as well as the Kyiv Post, Davydov is in a "safe" European country, which tracks back to Switzerland. For this, his AdSense funded videos are not first-hand reportage, but "content creation" as YouTube defines it.

This thread featured a comment saying that National post is "unreliable," based on an un-sourced bit of info. Fact checks, don't you know?

Since comment # 45 purports to document "bias and credibility," standards not applied to Swiss-based Davydov, one finds the original source of the "bias and credibility" statement. It is:

Media Bias Fact Check. Why it was not credited with the "bias and credibility" statement, given that the thread operator references sources for much else is interesting. After all, who "fact checks" a "fact checker."

Source: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/national-file/

One reads, "Dave Van Zandt is the founder and primary editor for sources. He is assisted by a collective of volunteers and paid contractors who provide research for many sources listed on these pages. Finally, MBFC also provides occasional fact-checks and original articles on media bias and publishes daily curated fact-checks from around the world."

Source: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/about/

"Media Bias Fact Check, LLC is a Limited Liability Company owned solely by Dave Van Zandt. He also makes all final editing and publishing decisions."

Some additional insight from Van Zandt may instruct about "bias and credibility" claims.

" In order to prevent bias, MBFC relies 100% on consensus science."

"Regarding Climate Change, the consensus is it is occurring and influenced by humans… until the consensus tilts otherwise, we have no choice but to draw our line and be factual."

"I hate to beat a dead horse, but we support the consensus of science on Covid-19 as well."

Wiki says -- "Media Bias/Fact Check is widely used in studies of mainstream media, social media, and disinformation."

Another view on "unbiased" Media Bias/Fact Check rates the web site as "Lean Left." The entire chart is most interesting.

Source: https://www.allsides.com/media-bias/fact-check-bias-chart

Another "skeptic" views them as "Media Bias/Fact Check has a rating of 2.21 stars from 14 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Media Bias/Fact Check ranks 457th among Blog sites."

Source: https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/mediabiasfactcheck.com

Without straying too far into the weeds, one finds the original comment was about something related to Ukraine and human trafficking.

This should not be ignored, by straying into those "bias and credibility" reliance on "authority," as if a fact check LLC owned and operated by a single individual is "authority," given other "authorities" find it "Lean Left."

As to Ukraine -- complicit in human trafficking as are Russia, the EU and sadly some in our own United States -- one reads:

"The [ Ukraine ] government has not published labor and criminal law enforcement information regarding its efforts to address child labor. In addition, Ukrainian laws do not meet international standards for the prohibition of commercialized sexual exploitation because they do not criminalize the users of prostitution involving children." In "Child Labor and Forced Labor Reports - Ukraine"

Source: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ilab/resources/reports/child-labor/ukraine

"Ukraine has been a source, transit, and destination country for human trafficking since the early 1990s. Men, women, and children are trafficked for the purposes of forced labor and begging and sexual and other forms of exploitation. The main countries of destination for trafficked Ukrainians have been the Russian Federation, Poland, and Turkey, as well as internal human trafficking within Ukraine. The problem has been exacerbated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Source: https://www.usaid.gov/ukraine/fact-sheet/dec-16-2022-trafficking-persons

Note that for my comments, unlike comment #42, I cite the sources, and specficially the two last sources are from US government entities.

Some find Media Bias Fact Check, LLC, leans left. Ergo "bias and credibility" are an issue even for this North Carolina LLC. An LLC which also supports "consensus science," a non-sequitur so popular today. Personally, I do not ascribe to their "consensus," a word so often cited by the climate guy, Al Gore, and his UN "zero carbon" folks.

So as to "bias and credibility" issues, it seems that all have their own bias and credibility, Swiss-based Davydov is among them"

"Davydov can't wait to see the Ukrainian peninsula liberated from Russia. He recently left Ukraine for the sake of his wife and daughter for an undisclosed safe country in Europe. He continues his popular videos without the background noise of sirens and hopes to resume his old day job in the near future."

In "A Top-10 of Pro-Ukraine YouTube Warriors to Guide You Through 2023," Kyiv Post, January 2, 2023.

Source: https://www.kyivpost.com/post/6341

"Another popular channel is Denys Davydov. He is a former airline pilot based in Kyiv, Ukraine, who lost his job in Ukraine once the war started. Now he focuses solely on the Ukraine war and has over 464,000 subscribers to his channel. Davydov is routinely posting 600K to 800K views per video that he posts now. That could be bringing in $1800 to $2,400 or more per video at a $3.00 RPM (revenue per mille) rate. His monthly YouTube earnings could be over $63,000. Even if it is half of that rate this YouTube star is making serious bank."

In "YouTube Channels on the Ukraine War Are Making Bank," Newsbreak.com, 22 October 2022.

Source: https://original.newsbreak.com/@mark-hake-1587739/2795821285140-youtube-channels-on-the-ukraine-war-are-making-bank

Meanwhile, the human trafficking in Ukraine, Russia, the EU and even through some in our own United States continues. Without reference to assertions of "bias and credibility" human trafficking should be prosecuted with prejudice and force. Period.

In the Ukraine, as in Russia, the EU, our own United States and anywhere else in the world. Or, one can promote YouTube videos uploaded from Switzerland and the United States because, being 'so close to the front lines,' they have no problems with "bias and credibility" < S A R C >

My suspicion? Corrupt money in all things, and justified because.....

Thank you for providing us with such a detailed account of the many reasons most Ukrainians will hate Putin and Russia for decades to come. Such anger and grief will help sustain their will and courage to make sure the invader is strongly encouraged to go home to Moscow.

Although inflicted several generations ago, the Holodomor in Ukraine which murdered 3 million people still provides bitter encouragement that motivates Ukrainians to fight to the death to be sure Russia never has that power over them again. Russia can be sure of enduring a long war with much death of their own people before this madness is ended. Hopefully Putin’s dictatorship will end soon and saner heads in Russia will prevail, saving many lives on both sides.

Ukraine’s election calendar would have held a vote for parliament members this week and a presidential election next March — but Ukraine’s constitution postpones elections under a state of martial law, which the government declared following Russia’s invasion 18 months ago.

Ukraine: Martial Law Introduced in Response to Russian Invasion
Library of Congress
https://www.loc.gov/item/global-legal-monitor/2022-03-03/ukraine-martial-law-introduced-in-response-to-russian-invasion/

Ukrainian officials and civil society leaders say no effective elections can be held amid a Russian invasion that now occupies about 18 percent of Ukraine’s territory and has uprooted at least 11 million Ukrainians from their homes. Russian missile attacks continue to strike every region of the country, routinely hitting civilian targets and destroying basic infrastructure.

“In this situation, can we have the elections?” Ukraine’s ambassador in Washington, Oksana Markarova, asked in a discussion last week at USIP.

“Well, definitely not, if you believe in free and fair elections.” She compared Ukraine’s situation with that of Britain during World War II, in which the British parliament voted annually to postpone overdue 1940 elections until after the war’s end.

Oleksii Danilov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), expressed frustration that PACE was telling Ukraine to ignore its own constitution, as Ukrainian Pravda reported:
I want to stress that we will handle this [i.e., the question of elections - ed.] ourselves, in accordance with our laws and our Constitution. When the [martial law] is in effect, as it currently is, no elections can take place.
In June 2023, 77% of Ukrainians SUPPORTED Zelenskyy’s reelection. Because Zelenskyy did make this announcement, and because the Ukrainian law does indeed prohibit elections during martial law.

The Washington-based International Republican Institute (IRI) published an opinion survey last week that found:

1- 62% of Ukrainians favoring an indefinite postponement of elections until after the war,

2- a total of 71 % favoring postponement at least until a year from now or longer.

3- A similar poll issued by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology finds 81% of Ukrainians favoring a postponement of elections until “after the end of the war.”

4- A total of nine recent opinion surveys have consistently found most Ukrainians — in majorities measured at 65 to 80% favoring postponement of elections, said Peter Erben, who directs the Ukraine operations of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).

5-Erben and Aivazovska spoke alongside Markarova at the USIP discussion last week, co-sponsored by IFES and the National Endowment for Democracy.
Even OPPOSITIONAL POLITICAL FIGURES discourage any attempt to hold elections under Russian attack.
Political analysts note that a presidential vote as scheduled next March would give extraordinary advantages to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, letting him use his wartime boost in popularity (an 82 % APPROVA RATING in the new IRI poll) to lock in a new five-year term.

6- Dmytro Razumkov, a parliament member with an opposition party who is discussed by analysts as a possible presidential candidate, told Politico in September that in part because “a huge amount of territory is either under occupation, or the infrastructure there is destroyed,” Ukraine has “NO POSSIBILITY to organize the election process on the ground” during the war.
