"Possibly Beijing? ;-)"

Hmmmmmm....

I doubt it, but these days what exactly do we really know for certain?

Worldtraveler once upon a time: "Actually, no. But it is refreshing that you have seen the Atlas VPN advert....

Does a VPN Make You Anonymous? Answer: no."

I don't think such caveats necessarily apply in the case of uploading videos to YouTube.
I'm near certain that anyone who truly wanted to post from anywhere but make it look like Switzerland could find a way to do that.

So let me put it to you this way: if I were Davydov, that's what I'd do.

Worldtraveler once upon a time: "We might remember that this particular VPN also is an income source for the Swiss-resident vlogger.
Would you like to look further into the many sources for his income streams -- plural? Lots more documentation is available."

I certainly don't have a problem with people doing well by doing good, so long as it's legit.

I do find it most odd that Davydov drives you people so crazy you just can't let go of it, you're constantly searching for whatever nonsense you can throw at him.

{sigh}

Your replies do not include sources and citations. {sigh}

Mine is not a fixation with one YouTube content creator, but with them all. One can apply such searches to Davydov as to Clayton Morris as to Warthog and Enforcer and Macgregor and more.

"Nonsense" is your subjective view as a rhetorical way out of the discussion -- verifiable citations and sources versus assertions without sources. I prefer verifiable citations and sources.

As to "I don't think such caveats necessarily apply in the case of uploading videos to YouTube," your response is fiction. Google / YouTube knows rather well where all who upload are, and have a legal obligation so to do. Should you posit "anyone who truly wanted to post from anywhere" then it is up to you as an interlocutor to advance some proof of your claim. Please do so.

Today I'm not fit for service in the field, but I can sure as heck still argue the case for Ukrainians right here.

God bless you, man.

Once a warrior, always a warrior. Your service is still greatly needed, obviously, and still against the same enemy as before, too, only now that enemy is here with us here at home(!).

So, thank you for speaking the common sense of our last generation to those of us now who’ve never heard it before and to those of us who know better, but who’ve lost their way.

Worldtraveler once upon a time: "Your replies do not include sources and citations. {sigh}"

The source for my opinions is me, BroJoeK.
If you must know, I live in eastern Pennsylvania, not far from the place where Gen. Washington crossed the Delaware River on Christmas Day, 1776.
I'm a big fan of Washington.
Some of my ancestors served under him.

Worldtraveler once upon a time: "Mine is not a fixation with one YouTube content creator, but with them all.
One can apply such searches to Davydov as to Clayton Morris as to Warthog and Enforcer and Macgregor and more."

That's a curious list, since Morris and Macgregor both repeat Russian propaganda, and yet nobody here has slung mud at them.
Warthog I'm familiar with, they do nice short pro-Ukraine videos.
The Enforcer I had to look up -- my goodness their latest video is over three hours long!!
No wonder I've not heard of them before.

And there are many others, I could easily list a dozen pro-Ukraine and even a few pro-Russia, none of whom attract the kinds of ridiculous mud-slinging you guys launch against Denys Davydov.
It's inexplicable and unconscionable.

Worldtraveler once upon a time: "Should you posit "anyone who truly wanted to post from anywhere" then it is up to you as an interlocutor to advance some proof of your claim. Please do so."

Your proposal is that Davydov must have a physical address in Switzerland in order to post to YouTube from Switzerland, and that seems reasonable to me, I won't dispute it.

I do dispute the necessity for Davydov to live full time, or even parttime, at that Swiss address.
I think it's technically possible, through such resources as Atlas VPN, for Davydov's posts to originate literally anywhere, using whatever passwords are needed to establish his authenticity to YouTube.

So again I ask, what is it that drives you guys so nuts about Davydov in particular, as opposed to anyone else posting videos on Ukraine?

I don't represent a group of "you guys." Nor am I pleased with your characterization of my comments as "nuts."

There are not two sides represented in these threads. There are many pro-Z and some pro-P comments, but there are also "not my war" sorts of stances, as well as concerns about the state of the US national debt.

You wrote, "The source for my opinions is me, BroJoeK." My source for my opinions is therefore more extensive than yours. Your welcome to your opinions, as and if you allow others be welcome to their opinions.

Worldtraveler once upon a time: "Your welcome to your opinions, as and if you allow others be welcome to their opinions."

Reasonable opinions reasonably expressed are not the problem here.
Anyone can discuss and agree or disagree reasonably about facts and logic.

Russian propaganda, by contrast, is almost always a huge problem because it consists overwhelmingly of:

  1. Lies

  2. Personal attacks

  3. Crazy logic to defend the indefensible.
In the specific example of Davydov, there are several accusations repeated endlessly which cannot be verified, including:
  1. He is a "draft dodger".
In fact, his official status is unknown and highly unlikely to be in any way negative.

  2. He lives in Switzerland.
In fact, you have confirmed that his YouTube posts upload in Switzerland, but they could originate anywhere.

  3. He lives in Luzern, Switzerland.
In fact, nothing online confirms that.

  4. He makes a rich living from YouTube.
In fact, he may well, though nobody knows his expenses or whether net-net he is really better off.

  5. He lives the life of a wealthy single man, cruising bars at night to pick up one-night stands.
In fact, he is a married family man with no evidence to support claims otherwise.
There is another man, a Russian, named Denys Davydov, arrested in New York a few years ago, who could be the source of such claims.
So again, I ask, what is it about Davydov that drives you guys -- yes, I mean you guys because there are several of you -- so nuts about him?
Why the repeated personal attacks?
Why not just address whatever facts & logic you disagree with?

If he said something you don't like, let's hear what it is, specifically, and stop with the personal attacks.

Worldtraveler once upon a time: "I don't represent a group of "you guys."
Nor am I pleased with your characterization of my comments as "nuts.""

First, there are several of you guys doing this.
Second, if your comments are based strictly on lies, then they are indeed, by definition, "nuts".

Worldtraveler once upon a time: "There are not two sides represented in these threads.
There are many pro-Z and some pro-P comments, but there are also "not my war" sorts of stances, as well as concerns about the state of the US national debt."

Sure, I 100% understand your point.
You say "we" assert a false dichotomy, or false dilemma, and there should not be just two choices here.
I "get" your argument.

Sadly, in the case of Ukraine, there are not more than two choices, indeed there's only really one choice.
That's because, if we chose to do nothing, then we are, in effect, choosing Russian victory over Ukraine.
And there is nothing -- zero, zip, nada -- acceptable about a Russian victory in Ukraine, not in the short run and certainly not in the long run.

If we chose to help Ukrainians, then there are many other questions about how and how much and for how long, etc., etc.
So, up to today, typical of Democrats, our administration has sent Ukraine just enough aid to keep fighting, but not enough to actually win.
Among other things, like you, our administration is afraid of Putin's nuclear threats, but that's not the only reason.
Everything Western hi-tech requires extensive training and cultural adaptation to use effectively.
There's no point in sending them weapons they don't know how to use.

Bottom line: there are not really three choices here -- pro-Russia, neutral or pro-Ukraine -- there are not even two choices because if we do nothing, then Russia wins in Ukraine and uses Ukraine's resources to prepare for its next invasions.
The only real choices we have are in how much aid to provide, and clearly what we've done so far is either not enough or, more likely, not enough of the right stuff.

Finally, Trump has promised to end the war quickly, in 2025, if reelected, and I think he could.
But Putin will not agree to give up Ukrainian territories he's already conquered, and Ukrainians are unlikely to agree to peace without full restoration of 2013 borders.
If Trump then withdraws all US aid, it will destroy NATO, and I don't think that's what Trump intends.

Sadly, our Democrats are more characterized by Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan than by any serious legacy of military victory, such as the bi-partisan efforts in WWII.
So, Ukraine's fate today is unknown and will be largely a function of their own resourcefulness, grit and determination.

What else? National debt?
Ukraine is a drop in the bucket compared to massive and insane Democrat vote-buying schemes.
Address those and Ukraine aid will not be a major issue.

Nice try, but you've just falsified my statement. "They could originate anywhere" is your assertion without any proof -- and stated it as if mine.

Further discussion would only be with your further opinions and further dissembling.

My apologies for any confusion, I did not intend to claim you assert YouTube posts could originate anywhere, since that is the statement you've asked me verify.

My evidence is that many other YouTubers post daily from locations, some of them quite remote, around the world.
One of particular note is Peter Zeihan, "geopolitical strategist" and forecaster who travels globally and posts from many different locations throughout the USA.
Does he ever post to YouTube from outside the USA?
I can't verify that, but why wouldn't he?
Why would YouTube want to restrict where he is physically located when he uploads his latest videos?

There's no logical reason I can think of to assume they do.
So, I think the burden of proof is on you to explain if or why YouTube requires posters to physically be in their listed country before uploading new videos.

This is a typical Peter Zeihan video, posted from Florida.
Zeihan's home is in Colorado.

Finally, my Bing AI query produced the following result:

Question: Can YouTubers post videos from anywhere in the world?

And your response is?

"Switzerland"

Please point out to me where it says a YouTuber must be physically located at his or her address of record in order to upload a new video.

I don't think it does, because that would make no sense and there are lots of examples to the contrary.

You assertion was not substantiated with examples.

Please provide your "lots of examples to the contrary." Links, since YouTubers all may be examined through their channels.
