Josh Giddey can't be suspended on 'allegation alone', NBA commissioner Adam Silver says amid probe into claims of an inappropriate relationship between the Thunder star and a minor Pictures and videos of Giddey and the minor surfaced on social media last month Giddey appeared in all of the Thunder's six games since the investigation began
Josh Giddey continues to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder because he can't be suspended over an 'allegation alone,' NBA commissioner Adam Silver said amid a criminal probe into claims the Australian basketball star had an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
Giddey, 21, is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a teenager from California after photos and videos surfaced on social media last month.
'I can't think of many circumstances where we've suspended a player based on an allegation alone,' Silver said on ESPN's 'NBA Today'.
'In this case, so we have an allegation and then you have a police investigation and then a parallel league investigation. I also add that, where there is a criminal investigation, we take a back seat. That impacts how the players and players association can work with us because of course the player needs to protect his rights.
'I'm not going to say never ever, but I think this is the path we've consistently followed in the past.'

Josh Giddey is 21. She is called a junior in high school. This means she is 17. Go here to see her Tik-Tok video and photos.

So consensual sex between a 21 year old boy and a 17 year old girl is against the law and immoral? This is a lot different than a 17 year old girl going with a 35-40 year old man.
If Josh raped her then there is something for the NBA to look into. But all I see is consensual sex.
I get what you’re saying, but a lot of first-year college students are still 17 or just turning 18, which means she could well have been 15.
I thought the whole #MeToo thing a few years back established that you can have your life ruined over unsubstantiated allegations?
Interesting that expulsion because of an accusation is not OK for basketball but it is OK for the US Congress!
With the money these guys make, many with a one year contract that would fill the entire working career of a civilian, being suspended for a year or less will have no effect on their lifestyle unless it shortens their ability to snort coke. Big deal. They’ll be reinsated when they can make money for the teams again. And they are nothing short of thugs.

This is odd. Usually the NBA suspends on allegations
He turned 21 in October. This is ridiculous. The legal age for consensual sex varies between 16 and 17 years across Australian state and territory jurisdictions.
In most states, the age of consent is 16 or 17. In California, it is 18.
Minors crossing state lines have other legal ramifications. (Not suggesting that is the case here. I don’t know.)
It’s California. If this was a same-sex relationship, they’d make a movie in his honor. (Harvey Milk was 33 when he had a sexual relationship with Jack Galen McKinley who was 17 at the time. Milk was also a Republican then.)
Does not look 17
Anyways, being a MAP is now a badge of honour
Josh’s only problem is being hetro
From what I read previously, this happened a year or 2 ago. He met her in a club that was supposed to be for 18+. Yeah, they did the deed. But he found out she was 17 and immediately distanced himself.
It’s not like he’s a pedophile. He was and probably still is a horny young man, and these girls/women absolutely throw themselves at these athletes.
