“Always a first rate experience with this outfit.”

I had just the opposite experience. RCL was stodgy, with a tired and overworked crew. One crew woman was put on the rock wall with a freshly broken arm in a cast. Paid extra for a balcony room. Had room service breakfast delivered to the balcony. Which was then flooded from above by outside window spray-down. All over the breakfast. No prior warning. Food was horrible. Greasy floors for days in the buffet with fake, tasteless “chocolate cake” for my kid. I could go on and on. Two cruises and they were the worst of my life. Even got assaulted. It’s one of those places where perps are assured you’re not armed. They can act out because they don’t bring a passport so they know they won’t get booted at port. Drink and drug usage was clearly not monitored or enforced on my 2x RCL cruises. Walmart-of-the-seas. Totally destroying the cruising industry with their “bigger is better” cattle boats. I was scolded by RCL regulars about expecting walk in access to shows and events as we always do on Carnival. Supposedly you have to book months in advance to “access” shows and events. Silly me, travelling with kids I wanted to do the no schedule laisse faire thing.

Oh, and the best part is they monitor message boards for negative comments and try to ID negative posters. So “Hi RCL” I”m already banned for life from your horrible Walmarts-of-the-Seas cattle scows. “Hey we’ll just give them some bright lights and shiny things to look at and the Prols will be happy or at least impressed”. (I’ll probably get a Cease-and-Desist order in the mail now). @@$#^$%@#S

I can smell commies at distance. RCL is commie all the way. You can tell by how “guests” are treated.

So, yeah, my RCL experiences are a bit different from yours.

Carnival though - never had a bad cruise. Been on a dozen. Great crew, super-well trained but meh ships. I like the older ships tho. They have more elbow room and are unique. Family isn’t treated like inmates because of other passengers’ behavior. Lots of polite and cultured foreign crew members. They make the cruise Fun for all. Really exceptional crews.

I am with you on that. I would rather pay more to be on one of those smaller ships that only have 250-450 passengers.

Why would anyone want to go on a ship with 7000 passengers is beyond me.

If I want a crowd, I will go to Fenway park.

I don’t see a max capacity for this ship. Did I miss it?

Not a big fan of crowds.

Same. Give me a lake house and some power watercraft away from the cities. Oh wait, I already did.

Never been on those. They tend to no not do the repositioning cruises and are VERY expensive. Plus my wife likes the ships with more activities. She is 65 going on 5 and likes the dance classes, the water slides, rock climbing and shows

Me I am a foodie. Royal, Norwegian, and Princess all have food that makes Carnival look bad though Carnival is still pretty good. I enjoy the buffets and main dining room. We eat very simple meals at home due to my dietary restriction from Crohn’s Disease. I can find things on a cruise that we would never have at home and that don’t mess up my digestion.

Has anyone been on one of the luxury hotel cruises?

I get ads for the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

Their ships look like maybe 200 passengers or so.

I am curious about the price tag per day.

“We take the repositioning cruises from the US to Europe or vise-versa and fly the other way.”

My sister and her hubby will do a repositioning 14-day from FL to the UK. 14 days, and it’s half the price of a decent flight.

A single Trident sub can remove the entire landmass of China for less money.

Went on one of these massive boats years ago - everything was too crowded, food was mediocre at best. Came back with either noro-virus or food poisoning, my cousin ended up in the hospital.

We switched to the smaller river cruises after that, Viking and American River Cruises - more expensive but definitely worth it, far better food, far less crowded and better service.

And it is unsinkable.

The question I have regards the maiden voyage passenger list.

Wondering if among them are wealthy bankers that oppose central bank CBDCs.

These threads are full of Petri dish references.

I’ve been on about 30 cruises. Never got sick.

It seems the percentage of ill passengers on a cruise is about the same as the percentage of ill co-workers at any office. For some reason, people believe illness only occurs on cruise ships.
