Trump came from a world where a person’s motivation is pretty clear (making money) so probably the idea that people would lose on purpose out of spite wasn’t on his radar. Just look at Paul Ryan, he got the republicans to lose an election just so he can go against Trump’s proposals that were largely popular with Americans , even if a lot of people didn’t like his personality.

I think there are two types of saboteurs though.

You have the conscious types, who willingly stay moles, pretend to be on your side, aide the enemy and media with information, and destroy you when the they think the time is right. I think there were a lot of these in the deep state.

Then you have the subconscious saboteurs. The passive-aggressive types. They only use obstruction and slow-walking and stone-walling. They aren’t just two-faced, because when they are with you they will act like they are your friend but they will actual conscious convince themselves that they are decent people and wont acknowledge their own mal-intent. I think people like Paul Ryan were one of these.
