I’d be pounding on the door screaming “Let me in.” Or I’d climb the fence to get out front. Or I’d use my elbow to smash a nearby window to get back into the house.

Why not climb the wooden fence, knock out some boards, break a window, or kick in the door? I’m not going to just stand out there in the freeze and think gee, we’re locked out, that sucks. I think they went outside and passed out from some counterfeit drug they took.
I have a buddy that has found himself waking up in more than a few strange places...
This was the Mid 80’s-90’s.
One night we just left him passed out in the woods because he was being belligerent about leaving.
Woke up covered in dew and walked home.
Staircases, bushes, bathtubs...
Just remembered one morning waking up in Cape Cod, Going out to my car only to see him passed out hanging half way out of the passenger seat of my car...lol
Or their ‘weed’ …which is not yet ‘decriminalized’ in their state…
The dog was at his father’s house and not home
That all three died at the same time suggests what ever drug did them in was quick acting...

Update from the DM. Looks like the home owner was doing a bender. Two days later he was still in his underwear drinking wine..
