I remember there was a movie some years back called “Brainstorm” where the great advance was that they found a way to record people’s experiences and play them back to people wo others could actually experience them inside their brains.
The first “victim” of the technology was some guy working for the company who got his hands on the first sex recorded that way, and figured out how to splice the thing into a loop...
When they found him the next morning still wearing the device running the playback in a loop, he was a quivering mass of protoplasm, and his brain was fried!
The navy would rotate movie reels to the various ships. Often the best scenes were cut out and sliced into a new reel of “best hits”.
Natalie Wood’s last movie.
I remember that. Totally plausible.
I remember that movie - Natalie Wood’s last, IIRC. Not bad for early ‘80s sci-fi. Plus, it had Christopher Walken.
“Strange Days” is what keeps coming to my mind with these things. It was a movie about a rapist/murder who wore a VR set... and put one on his victim, the two devices linked so that his victim could see her torturous death through his eyes as it happened. Seems we’re only *this* close to that being a thing. And you know someone is working on it.
IIRC, a technician recorded the porn. It was Christopher Walken’s son who discovered it and was left scarred.
