The pronoun for the killers is ‘bully’.,..
This is a normal reaction to somebody who is deemed weird. Some of the less tolerant students will harass and bully the weird kids to try and get them in line with societal norms.
While her family’s obituary used female pronouns,
I NEVER went to the BR in school.
[And my schools in the 50s and 60s were Just Fine.]

What the hell is non-binary supposed to mean?
Lemme guess...this creature had a “Y” chromosome and was obviously male when he was spotted in the girls’ room.
A mentally ill male was killed in the women’s bathroom. Was this self-defense? I’d lean to that possibility and conclusion unless he was lured there and intentionally targeted. It would be an interesting jury to be on.
I am guessing that in addition to being of a different sex than this young man, the killer students were also of a different race.
When there is a racial or clear social difference between bully and victim, the brutality is often over the top - escalated. This murder is in no way justified, but the race difference may have made it easier for the killer students to depersonalize/ dehumanize this student, and commence to ‘go to war’ with him.
Trans students need their own restrooms.
Is that accurate?
In America everything is so convoluted with pronouns, nuanced messaging and euphemisms that you can't even figure out what the hell happened.

The girls were upset mentally ill boys were in their bathroom and severely beat them. That seems a clearer way to describe what transpired.
Girls that used to wear guys clothing were called Tomboys.
Kind of sounds like this was a guy pretending to be a girl.
*IF* that’s the case, then I give the girls the benefit of the doubt and figure they were protecting themselves from continuing sexual harassment until more details come out.
