TikTok might be entering its flop era as users revealed the reasons why they are quitting the ultra-addictive app that witnessed an explosion in popularity over the past few years.

Former TikTok user Keilah Bruce, who found herself constantly neglecting household chores like laundry and dishes, said the app's eerie algorithm seemed to start 'reading her mind.'

She stopped using the app last year when content matching her private thoughts began surfacing on her feed, the 27-year-old accountant based in New York shared with the Wall Street Journal.

For Samantha Rodriguez, 29, the habit of bedtime scrolling on TikTok took a toll on her marriage, as her husband repeatedly took her phone out of her hand at night.

Gautam Mengi, a 27-year-old film school student and PR intern, admitted that his procrastination on schoolwork had affected his grades after spending too much time on TikTok.

Those apps are designed to keep users logged in and hooked. It’s why I only use them for communication and information, and I haven’t touched TikTok due to where its HQ originates. The only one I use is Reddit, and it’s either for trade in gaming or advice regarding my truck (there’s a subreddit for my make and model of vehicle).

Rarely I touch Facebook. Maybe a few times a year, particularly around ACen. Its use is mandatory. -eye roll- We used to have Slack, but not anymore.

Til tok is highly effective at creating dopamine surges. Dopamine is the addiction neuro chemical. As metmom says above — and she is correct — the plug in drug.

“Addictive” BS. There is no physical impact aside your imagined ego boost when a complete stranger agrees with you. Geesh, get a dog.

“Addictive” is the excuse when some whiny arshed loser does not want to grow up.

Tiktok algorithm knows what you like. If you like cat videos. You’ll get mostly cat videos and that’ll keep you hooked.
