As soon as I saw the article's title on the Yahoo home page, I knew exactly which breed it was. Funny how this never happens with border collies.

Same here. I would’ve bet every Penny I have it wasn’t a Golden Retriever. It’s insane to have a pit bull. Especially around a baby. These “parents” got treated and released from the hospital. The dog was euthanized. Too late.

Anyone who thinks Pit Bulls make good pets period, is a moron.

Our local shelter is overflowing with them.

I wonder if God directed that dog to kill the baby because it was going to be another obama, biden, clinton, etc.
Seriously, what were the parents thinking!
Yeah, I know all the dog haters here on FB will jump on this like white on rice but it’s the parents who are at fault here.

Without question, the family had already experienced warning, signs, and ignored them. I’m constantly amazed at the level of disconnect people have when it comes to animals. They are not your babies. They are not people. You could sacrifice 1,000,000 dogs for a baby and have a clear conscience. But sadly, there are people who wouldn’t sacrifice a single dog for a baby.

A friend of mine owned a pit bull. Some pit bull owners like the gangster status. My friend just liked the dog.
It was the sweetest dog you’d ever met. Until one day it went after and mauled a delivery guy. Fortunately for my friend, the delivery guy took a couple hundred dollars to forget about the incident.
Was my friend a moron for owning the dog in the first place? You betcha. He did wise up, and got rid of the dog. How, I never did ask.

They’re as gentle as kittens right up until they’re not.
To: grundle
But it was a nice family dog… Until it wasn’t.
To: grundle
Shelters by me are also full of Pits. Wouldn’t adopt one on a dare.

My nephew was married when he became a father but now he's a single dad. His dog is a pit bull and they had him before the baby arrived. They both knew what pit bulls are notorious for but they insisted they knew that their pit bull could never hurt the child. To the rest of the family, it sounded like "famous last words". He still has the dog and shares custody of their son, but we still don't know if there's ever been any incidents involving the kid and the dog. He's always been somewhat hotheaded and keeps a gun(s) in the house too. His ex-father-in-law was a State trooper and he couldn't talk to him either. In his mind, he's Mr. Cool. My parents had their opinion but they just never brought it up and neither have I. His father is my brother, and he and my nephew who was 19 at the time, have been like best buddies since my brother's divorce in 2007, so my brother never does anything to rock the boat...My dad was wary of the whole thing for the rest of his life and my mother still shakes her head over it...We'll all breathe a lot easier when that dog finally has it's day.

Our local shelter is also overflowing with pit bulls and pit mixes. Frankly, I’m amazed that they are even available for adoption, due to possible liability issues. I thought they would be put down upon entry to the shelter.
To: grundle
Exactly. Sorry but that breed needs to cease existing.

It’s funny that pit bulls were raised to be nursery dogs.

All shelters are full, almost exclusively, of pit bulls.
For all the people who tell you it’s the sweetest dog, for some reason many pit bulls are abandoned.

Our shelter also, three-quarters of the dogs are pitbulls or pit mixesfrom the south. And I see people walking them. We had many fewer pitbulls in town ten years ago.

Having a Pitbull is about as close as you can get to having a pet Hyena. A brilliant thing to do. What says “F**k you” to all the people around you better than having a Pitbull?
