So now I’m curious. Are blacks less intelligent than whites on average? Because if they are, then it isn’t racist to think that.
So, if Juan Williams really wanted to “deal with these root issues”, he would demand a study comparing the average IQ of various races.
If it turns out blacks have an average IQ equal to or higher than whites, I guess that would indicate that white people who think otherwise are racially prejudiced.
If it turns out blacks have a lower average IQ than whites, I guess that would prove white people who think that are not racially prejudiced - they are just correct.
Will there ever be such a study published? I really doubt it.
There are problems..
On average are blacks less intelligent? Or are the testing methodologies biased?
IQ tests always make me laugh, because I can recall in high school they gave us one and one of the questions had 2 men in space suits on the moon trying to communicate, one was using a light and the other was using a bell... well the teacher left the room and some of the students started discussing this problem and what was the right answer.
The logic argued was the bell would be harder to hear because they had on helmets so it must be the light... So those that listened go the question correct, but got it correct for the wrong reasons. (With no atmosphere/air sound won’t travel, so the bell is useless). So, while I don’t doubt you can test IQ, and that IQ is a measurable thing, it also became blindingly apparent that IQ tests themselves have flaws.
I think you take a kid from a inner city dumbed down school and administer him an IQ tests, he’s going to score generally poorer than an equivalent kid educated in a suburban or rural school, on average, and certainly lower than a kid educated in a private school where high expectations are the norm.
So, are blacks generally lower IQ? Or suffering from other issues social or educational issues.. My personal opinion is likely BOTH.. but which is the bigger contributor to their poor performance? I’d say likely their poorer education.
I suspect, that if you could actually get rid of these other issues, you would find the actual intellectual ability deviation is not nearly as pronounced, but does still exist to a certain extent on the macro.
Same can be said of whites vs asians... asians always score higher on average on IQ tests, but is it intelligence or social/societal issues. Their societies and cultures do not accept dumbed down expectations, they almost exclusively have 2 parent households and schooling and excellence is generally a high priority and expected... If you could normalize these I would bet the IQ differential between whites and asians would probably still exist, but to a much lesser degree.
