Billionaire shipping magnate Angela Chao knew she was about to die as she sat trapped in her car after reversing it into a pond while three times over the drink drive limit, police have revealed.
The sister-in-law of Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell was pronounced dead at the scene after her Tesla SUV was hauled from the water on her 900-acre ranch in Texas on February 11.
She had previously been confused by the gears on her Model X and mistakenly put the car into reverse after an evening with close friends at a lodge on the estate.

And nobody at the house she left thought it was unwise for her to get in a car? They want to hold bartenders liable when they serve alcohol to someone who then goes out and kills someone while driving drunk. Why not this? If she was an illegal alien who got drunk, and did the same thing, the person who gave them the drinks would be arrested, tried, and convicted, especially if they were a Trump supporter. Pelosi’s husband gets a slap on the wrist for driving drunk, and causing an accident.

Sure... but that is 20-20 hindsight. She was going less than 1/4 mile and she was always on her own property.

In an earlier posting about this a few weeks ago, there was discussion about the best way to break out in an emergency.... hammers don’t work near as well as one of those spring loaded devices. As a community service, I should go and find those links....

A few takeaways...
1. Since the engine on an ICE car is the heavy spot, the front end will sink first. I’m not sure where the heavy spot is on an EV but that would be important to know.
2. Very important.... You must have a good quality window breaking device and that means one that is spring loaded that will pop out and destroy the glass. You can not swing a hammer underwater and in fact, at the first link it shows a hammer that actually broke and the guy using it wasn’t even in the water.

Bottom line... it is very important to have one of these in the car but it has to be a good quality one. And I suspect that by ‘good quality’, this means finding out for sure that it will break the glass for the car that you have. I have no doubt that some glass is much harder to break than others.

I recently viewed Hitchcock’s North by Northwest, where the bad guys poured a bottle of bourbon into Cary Grant’s character then put him in the drivers seat of a car rolling downhill.
Drunk Asian Woman Driver, she didn’t have a chance.

She should have known better than to drink and tesla.
They all chose poorly, and it cost her, her life. The New York Post said she was heading back to the main ranch house from the guesthouse, as her 3 year old son was sleeping there. I've been a mother for 58 years, and never once, especially when my children were young, did I ever drink and drive because I had the responsibility of being there for them 24/7. The only reason I can think of that she willingly chose to get inebriated is because she had the luxury of a babysitter or nanny to care for the child.
Anybody that had a 3 year old child sleeping at the main ranch house, expecting her to return, never should have been that drunk, let alone get into a car. She was 50 years old, not some teen mom. Her own arrogance killed her.
