As to the ‘why’ that’s a good question... In my extended family and neighborhood, I’ve got to know many folks who come from China (or have a first generation connection to China) and as a broad generalization, their alcohol consumption would rank quite low when compared to the broad scope of people I know. Are there some that are drunks? Sure but I havent’ met any. As for the women, their alcohol consumption is even lower than the men.... I suppose I can say that I might have seen a few who would fall into the ‘slightly tipsy’ category but absolutely none that approach the BAC of what has been reported for Chao.
I guess all one can say is that she had a large group of friends in, they were all on her own property, it was a celebration of meeting friends flown in for the occasion and the backdrop for it was Chinese New Years.... and somehow, she got carried away with the booze.
As for the ‘where she was going’, the guest house where they were partying was right at one of the ponds on the property and she was going back to the main ranch house for the night... and it was about 300 yards away.
