That’s a great description! I was an 80s kid, but I loved music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

I was horrified when the local Oldies station moved from the 50s and 60s to the 80s and 90s.

The thing about the 60s is that styles would completely change from month to month. You can tell whether a song was recorded in January of 1967 or December of 1967.

Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music by Ray Charles 1963 is the best album ever recorded.

Yeah Lou Reed in Velvet Underground, was interesting for sure. Though I think he did his best work went he went solo.

Lou Reed - Sweet jane

And of course his iconic:

Lou Reed - Walk On The Wild Side

From back when California was worth dreaming about, now it’s just a nightmare.

The Rock and Roll Animal versions are the best (with Hunter and Wagner).

This, and the song by The Association called “Cherish”.
Take a free look at them performing Cherish on YouTube.
They put the ‘X’ in excellent!

I was a late effort of boomer parents, I don’t even remember the 90’s. But they raised me on tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. The best, imho, was between 1956-1966. Great melodies in pop music, and the Broadway musicals had some great lyrics too.
Interesting that they play oldies in stores. According to my mom, when she was young they rarely heard a 20-year-old recording on the radio (which would have been something from the 30’s or 40’s). Today it’s pretty unavoidable to hear 50’s tunes but you still don’t hear much from earlier years — unless you watch old movies.

Sweet Jane posted was the Rock n Roll Animal Album Walk On The Wild Side is from the Transformer album.

Do you have an example(s) of what you are referring to? Perhaps I missed that/them since they may be nonbinary. Anything is possible with Lou Reed. 🙂

They were indeed good times. Many, many happy memories... College, getting started, punk, no computers, a better world.

Petula Clark! Little known gems include “Sailor” and “You Can’t Keep Me From Loving You.”
