Rachel Berg, 18, was speeding in her brand-new Chevy Corvette on a Mesa highway about 10:30 p.m. March 12 when she rear-ended a Harley-Davidson being ridden by Michael Clark, 46, a Tempe park ranger...

Berg pulled over and tried to perform CPR on the fallen biker but he died at the scene — then told police she couldn’t stop in time before ramming the Hog, AZ Family said.

Data from her car’s airbag control module reportedly indicated that she had been traveling at 155 mph five seconds before impact and 87 mph when she struck the bike after slamming on the brakes.

Send her to jail, for a long time.

Throw the entitled little brat in prison for a couple decades...

How many of us have ever driven a car over 90mph

Me. Got written up for 65 in a 55 zone...

This along with the 18 year old in Seattle speeding and killing a mother and three others in her car - the girl in MI (I think) who hit an Amish rig and killed someone and her twin sister switching places with the driver who was obviously on drugs...is too much to absorb....all this with news of shootings, people being shoved under subway trains etc., crime in cities all over the country...Is it any wonder we’re all shaking our heads? What is going on or where are people’s minds?

How many of us have ever driven a car over 90mph let alone 155mph?

I would bet most of us have driven over 90mph, but I have never been over 149 because my car would not go any faster.

Exactly! And you remembered it! After reading other comments, it’s clear that her parents used poor judgement if they purchased the car for a teen. Wondering what her blood test will show. RIP to the fallen Harley rider who went out doing something he loved.

“”I would bet most of us have driven over 90mph,””

I think you’d lose that bet....

My first car could barely go over 80 without shaking apart. I wanted a convertible Karmen Ghia but dad wouldn't let me, not on the grounds of speed but because he'd fought in Patton's 3rd Army to the end in Germany. So I purchased a Japanese made car instead, the irony!

I had a Peugeot 404 that didn’t smooth out until 85...

Even cheaper non-performance cars these days have so much more under the hood than when I was young. I hesitate to give a 16 yo a Camry or Accord with the big engine.

I think 155 mph is fine, on a race track but nowhere else.

My brother-in-law was on his motorcycle, waiting in the left turn lane of a standard 4 lane suburban-commercial road

A ditzy teen girl, making a left-turn herself from the crossroad, probably going 30-40 mph, drove into him from his 2 o’clock position

He was in hospital, and then rehab for 6 months

Speed limit in Texas often is 80 mph. 90 is a pretty common average speed on those roads. My wife once hit 120 passing some cars in our Toyota Celica...I’ve hit 100 numerous times.

Laymen just don’t understand how talented race drivers and stunt drivers are and think they can drive so foolishly!

In 1981 we bought our 16 year old daughter a brand new ‘81 Honda Prelude. She never gave us a minute’s trouble with the car. But she’d accepted Christ as her Savior at 5 yrs of age, and been an honor student through HS. Praise Jesus!

“How many of us have ever driven a car over 90mph let alone 155mph?”

In 2005 I bought a new Chrysler Crossfire coup that I took to a very deserted rural road and got it up to 150 when the speed limiter kicked in... I was glad it did. It was an exhilarating and terrifying experience. Never did it again. Nice car though.

There are places out West where the only people you will kill is yourself and passengers. That said I was in my late 20’s before I had a car that could even go 155, can’t imagine giving that to a teenager regardless of budget.

I also wish the biker’s family and friends my heartfelt condolences. As a motorcycle owner/rider myself I wish this young lady years of imprisonment so she can understand her fatal stupidity
