What was the strategic purpose of this attack?

It doesn’t help win the war.

“win the war”? The proxy war has been lost for a very long time. This was done and it’s beginning to appear successfully so, to widen the war to NATO (sans the proxy aspect)vs. Russia so we can “win” WWIII. Yeah, DC is that reckless and stupid.

The strategic purpose of this attack was to take the fight to the Russian people to make them feel the pain of the war and demonstrate to them that they were not immune from the consequences of the war.

Victoria Nuland alluded to this in a recent press conference where she said that the recent re commitment to Ukraine was going to result in asymmetric attacks inside of Russia itself

That's the lens to use to understand.

This attack served exactly ZERO purpose for Ukraine.

Putin needed something to rally the troops.

Yet again, False Flag anyone? Also see Reichstag fire.

Doesn't anyone read or study history anymore? To be fair some FReepers including you packagingguy clearly do -- but most people don't.
