Ukrainian forces low on just about everything they need shut down a large Russian mechanized assault in a telling front-line fight

Ukrainian forces in a priority section of the front line near Avdiivka appear to have defeated a large Russian mechanized assault involving tanks and fighting vehicles over the weekend.

-snip-

On March 30, Ukrainian troops outside occupied Avdiivka fought off a Russian battalion-sized mechanized assault, the Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, said.

ISW cited a Ukrainian serviceman who, on March 31, said that elements of Russia's 6th Tank Regiment sent 36 tanks and 12 BMP infantry fighting vehicles into a battle on the front line near Tonenke, a village east of Avdiivka.

The serviceman said Ukraine destroyed 12 tanks and eight IVFs. Footage shared by Ukraine showed some of the assault, including Russian tanks being destroyed by anti-tank guided missiles, according to open-source intelligence accounts on social media.

"This appears to be the first report of any elements of the 90th Tank Division participating in assaults following the Russian seizure of Avdiivka," ISW said in its latest update.

It added that the assault appeared to have failed, "suggesting that elements of Russia's uncommitted operational reserve near Avdiivka may be too degraded or otherwise unable to lead further Russian advances westward in the short term."

A photo posted on social media by open-source information accounts, what appears to be a screenshot from drone footage, showed the supposed aftermath of the assault, with destroyed tanks scattered across the battlefield.

The scale of the recent assault is significant, ISW explained, as Russia hasn't launched an assault this large since it began efforts to take Avdiivka last October.

Ukraine ping

gaffer: [Not WWI or WWII.......not for a LONG time. We’ve given UKR a significant amount of money and arms. We’re talking today and what’s available and produced today which is vastly more expensive than WWII.. If you wanna compare crap 80 years apart, then what about the money we’ve given them. The entire US war debt in WWII was about $250B. Democrats and RINOs want to sucker us into a debt for them that is vastly more significant than that.]

40% of the US economy was devoted to WW2. Not 40% of one year’s output. 40% of the entire period’s production. No new cars were made for the civilian market in that time.

https://www.autonews.com/article/20111031/CHEVY100/310319970/no-new-cars-but-that-didn-t-stop-u-s-automakers-dealers-during-wwii

Basic necessities of all kinds were rationed.

https://www.nationalww2museum.org/students-teachers/student-resources/research-starters/take-closer-look-ration-books

In dollar terms, steel costs 45x more than it did in 1914. But US GDP is up 700x from the $36b it was in 1914.

https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/abs/plotting-for-peace/gdp-of-the-united-states-britain-and-france-19141918/A5C0B7922803306087FA85AE620468FB

Re the $211b war debt incurred in WW2, that was an entire year’s economic production. Today’s equivalent would be $25T. By contrast, the pandemic bill, at $2.2T, cost less than 10% of WW2 debt alone. Sized to today’s economy, WW2 cost about $40T, or about 1.6 years’ worth of output.

Here is what cards Vlad played just 6 hours ago. And this is a normal everyday occurrence. No Putin lover, but Ukraine will be a complete sh#thole soon. The Ukrainians are not benefiting. Only people benefiting is the Industrial Military Complex who don’t mind investing other people childern’s lives to get a bigger yatch.

And part two: Someone said Russia doesn’t have any advance weapons. LOL

Russians are not stupid and we are teaching them how to defeat the West. They are in process or already have thousands of un-jammable drones. Ukraine’s brilliant success against their ships taught them how to defeat ours. The other day they launch hundreds of drones just to probe weaknesses in our air defense systems and then sent missiles through the gaps.

If Russia attacks NATO in the future they will be able to thousands upon thousands of more soldiers thanks to training against our more modern weapon systems (for how long? Their new drone approach that Ukraine taught them is scary and will render tanks and ships defenseless).

And no, after our Afghanistan debacle I do not trust the current woke crop of generals to be able to do anything about it.

I served this country for 38 years. I’m not young and I’m not wealthy but I’m doing fine. I collect SS and have Medicare, VA care and pay a healthy sum for health insurance for the wife. I’d have done much better investing that SS over the years than what I get back. Show me anywhere in the Constitution where it’s the federal government’s job to fund SS, Medicare, Medicaid and all the other social handout programs it provides. Show me where it’s the federal governments job to hand out billions for colleges then cancel student debt, invest in useless EVs and allow the EPA, NEA , DOE etc to make rules and regulations ( not laws) that I must follow? When you become dependent upon the government for everything you’re weak and useless.

SS has been around for 88 years, America has been around 248 years so we did fine for 170 years without it and the other BS social programs have been around a lot less. Being responsible for yourself speaks volumes.

I’m not an isolationist but America should not be the world’s savior. We should have never left Afghanistan because we will be back. Ukraine is a corrupt shxthole and Europe should step up and protect their own back door, not America. I have no problems with bases throughout the Pacific and in Europe but we can’t do it all. Of course if we had a strong military instead of a social engineering experiment with faggots and freaks that can’t look between their legs and figure out what sex they are, run by pussies and managers vice leaders and a CIC that’s in stage 4 dementia that would help.

“Ukraine is a corrupt shxthole and Europe should step up and protect their own back door, not America.”

Therefore, its OK Russia to invade s-hole countries - designation to be applied with random judgements by random people, and kill as many as it takes. We Americans are just innocent voyeurs who are mostly concerned about our money; when friends and allies are in trouble, that’s their problem. We will just watch, cause no one should depend on us for anything, especially preserving their freedom.

It does not matter that Europe has virtually no men under arms, armor, airforce, navy now. What’s important is that Europe steps in and helps with equipment they have in limited quantities, while the US sits on huge arms stockpiles designed to kill Russians, because money; these stockpiles are better left untouched or reaching EOL, dismantled, rather then be used for their intended purpose.

We do not need to invest in modernized weapons should the Europeans step up. We do not need the skill sets, the tools, the dies, the blueprints so lets burn or recycle them. The world, which has enjoyed Pax Americana for 80 years, can go hang for all we care. We got lots of homeless and Newcomers to care for.

Besides, Russia has lots of oil, the flow of which, if impeded will drive the prices of gas and diesel higher. Can’t have that! Hands off Russia! Which means no military aid to UKR because someone designated it a shole country!

By your own words, you are an isolationist.

America is the only country that can solve many problems. We default as you would have it, then China will step in to fill the role that America unilaterally vacated.

So getting your way means you should get ahead of the pack and start learning Mandarin now!

Then lets open up the pocketbooks and spend trillions and trillions of more dollars to make the everyone feel safe.

Let’s put the world on America’s social programs so you can feel better.

I prefer my way which means no one will f’ with America because the consequences far out weigh the risk.
