US airline regulators have launched an investigation after an engine cowling on a Boeing plane fell off during takeoff and struck the wing flap, the latest in a series of safety problems facing the aircraft manufacturer.

Southwest Airlines flight 3695 rose to about 3,140 metres (10,300ft) before returning safely 25 minutes after takeoff to Denver international airport at about 8.15am local time on Sunday. It was towed to the gate after landing.

The Boeing aircraft with 135 passengers and six crew members onboard had been headed to Houston, Texas. No one was injured.

This is a maintenance issue. Not a Boeing issue.

It’s a pilot’s preflight walk-around issue. Every flight.

That’s a bit hasty, isn’t it. You don’t even know the age of the aircraft. If this was one of the last 737-800’s delivered, it might have been poorly made (due to DEI).

No, it’s a maintenance issue. No matter when that aircraft was delivered, I assure you, SW crews have had that engine cover off and on. It’s on them.

This is a maintenance issue. Not a Boeing issue.

I partially disagree.

Boeing has a system that should alert the pilots if the engine cowls are not properly latched. It is not clear at this time, and we may never learn, if this warning system failed or was ignored.

I stand by my point. The most likely cause is usually the case. The last guy who worked on the engine did not latch the cowling properly.

Has Boeing engineering adopted some sort of Velcro fastener program perhaps? 🤔

I suspect that most of these issues are human error that is not being reigned in......lackadaisical maintenance habits in aviation can be like a virus spreading throughout the workplace......I’ve sent it first hand, and once it gets going drastic measures may need to be taken to bring it under control.....or REALLY bad things can happen.....way worse than what we’re already seeing.

These incidents are the culmination of years and years of ‘Affirmative Action’, the previous name of ‘DEI’.

Giving people diplomas they did not earn simply avoids reality.
