Furious BLM protesters clash with Chicago cops after video showed Dexter Reed being shot almost 100 times in less than a minute

Furious BLM activists have clashed with cops outside a Chicago police station after a video was released showing a deadly officer-involved shooting of a black man.

Dexter Reed, 26, was killed during a traffic stop which erupted into a huge shootout also injuring an officer and which cops say Reed started.

On Tuesday, Chicago Police released footage of the March 21 encounter which showed them firing 96 shots at Reed, even as he lay motionless on the ground outside his vehicle.

The aspiring broadcaster's death has reignited conversations around excessive police force against black people, though officers maintain Reed opened fire first.

Shortly after the footage was released, around 100 protesters gathered outside CPD's 11th district, blocking the streets and jostling with police.

'We don't need armed police officers to tell someone to put their seat belt on,' one protester told the crowd in a video captured by Fox.

'Dexter Reed's vehicle had tinted windows, so the argument that they were enforcing seat belt laws doesn't make sense,' another added.

Police said they pulled Reed over in Humboldt Park for allegedly not wearing a seatbelt.

But Andrew Stroth, an attorney for Reed's family, branded the police stop 'unconstitutional', claiming the plainclothes cops did not announce they were police.

Bodycam footage showed a plain clothes tactical unit approaching Reed's SUV and ordering him to roll his window down with their weapons drawn.

Reed is seen resisting orders to roll down his window. Suddenly a volley of shots is heard and the officers immediately return fire.

Why do some people need to darken their windows that much?

They do it for the same reason they wear hoodies.

In my neck of the woods (generally rural area, town of ~25k about 15 minutes away), “street” arrests for felony drug offenses more often than not start off as a traffic stop for a minor offence. Speeding and expired plates are very common. Improper lane usage, failure to signal, and so on, are frequent reasons for stops too. Then, either something more comes up when the officer radios in a plate or license number, or perhaps the operator doesn’t have a valid drivers’ license, or maybe the officer recognizes a person or person as being wanted for some other crime. Drugs then get turned up and arrests are made. Very often search warrants are issued for the subject’s or subjects’ homes and more drugs are found. Ditto for felons with firearms.

Sometimes these stops progress to the point of a suspect pulling a gun, running, etc. In the case of a suspect drawing a gun, around here, especially if sheriff’s deputies are involved, and shots are fired, we end up with a dead perp. But it usually only takes a shot or two.

To be clear, I’ve driven by a lot of stops and have never seen the police with their guns out. Usually drivers are not further suspects, and USUALLY even further suspects are not stupid enough to engage police in a shootout.

In any event, I’d say that in this case it looks like the officer(s) likely had good reason to expect an armed confrontation.

Razed drug dealers lives matter. Steppenwolf’s The Pusher suggested the right idea.

They could have fired 10 times that many rounds if they had been properly armed.

An average of two bullets every second, almost?

And nobody’s gun overheated?

What was the alleged reload rate, and how many weapons?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Or as I always say, “You might beat the rap but you won’t beat the ride.” If you resist arrest, you deserve what’s coming next.

In 2017, Atlantic City police fired more than 60 shots at a perp who had been attempting to flee in his SUV, firing at police as he went. When Police PITT maneuvered his SUV and immobilized it, the perp got out of the vehicle with a gun in his hand , at which time it was on like Donkey Kong. The coroner counted 45 entrance wounds and the perp, lying face up in the street, kept his gun in his hand and under his control until the final shots were fired.

The shooting was ruled “righteous.”

The reason these shootings appear to have racial overtones is that White crims seem to be far less predisposed to taunt the police into killing them. Which means this seeming imbalance of use of police violence is likely to continue until either White crims start acting stupider or black crims smarten up.

Yeah, I know I have been pulled over for a routine thing too, and subjected to a search. But I never faced a gang of armed men in plain clothes. Had I faced that I might have taken off in complete fear od what the hack is this all about.

I think you might do the same.

“The pic of the dead perp doesn’t match the 100 round verbiage.”

Hit by 100 rounds he’d look like Sonny Corleone.

A lot of people just don’t know how to de-escalate situations,

Too many of them are on city or county payrolls.

Never did agree with seat belt laws being a primary offense.

Seat belt laws were "sold" as being OK, since non-use of them was only a secondary offense. Then they made it a primary offense on the sly.

Politicians are liars.

Absent seat belt laws, auto insurance would be unaffordable

So... insurance was unaffordable BEFORE seatbelt laws?

Good to know... /sarcasm

No, but I think lawyers caught on to the fact insurance companies could be extorted for car accident injuries.
