You need to start paying attention to your cars now.

Personally, I won't buy another new car.

Why did Obama buy up your old car and destroy it? Remember that?

If a new car costs 50k, then that means you have a budget of $5000/year to pay a good mechanic/service dept. to keep your old one in top shape.

I like that math. It usually costs quite a bit less for good preventative maintenance.

I’m not opposed to buying a new car, but the math just doesn’t work for me.

“Personally, I won’t buy another new car.”

But how can you show off your wealth and compete in social status if you don’t?

You have your priorities mixed up friend... All good sheep practice status consumerism at any and all costs.

My older Tacoma is looking better every day. It’s a base model but I just need to haul things with it. I added a cruise control for $15, and an intermittent wiper for $113. I’m all set for what I hope are many more happy years with it.

You can invest 20k into restoring an old 66 Chevy or Ford and have a REAL car when you are done. With proper maintenance a 66 model will last 20 years before it needs any major work. And even then major work is still cheap to get another 20 years out of it.

Hang onto that baby. I leased a new Tundra last year and won’t be buying it when the time comes. It’s the absolute base model and has more persistent connectivity and safety nannies than you can believe. Even navigation is a monthly fee, to which I refuse to subscribe. This results in a subscribe now nag screen every time I start the damn thing.

They now have a built in capability that law enforcement can use to shut cars down if they have the proper equipment. They started this with 2016 models, some with “onstar” even before that.

Most Toyota or Mazda vehicles will last at least 250,000 miles with basic maintenance.

Us European vehicles are Democrat supporting garbage

In fact I am in auto repair and I have had customers whose cars would die when they passed this one particular cell tower. Some improper frequency coming from the tower was triggering their shut down mode.

If your car has GPS, it’s a simple software matter to geofence you and restrict your movement if the government desires it. Think Climate Change restrictions that they are about to introduce. Odd/Even driving days, limited miles per year etc. It’s coming soon.

The engine was whipped in my daughters 2011 SUV. For $8,300. we had a brand new engine installed and other things fixed. It drives like a charm, and looks good.

Absolutely, I have seen them go 350k before needing major engine work. And even then you can buy what they call “50 thousand mile” used engines imported from Japan.

Because of their emission laws they have to replace the engines after 50k. But that is only “now broke in” mileage for us here.
