facing presidential year turnout, Tester will have to convince a significant portion of rural, white Trump supporters to split their tickets at a level that is exceedingly rare these days. Furthermore, Montana is the likely tipping point for the Senate which nationalizes the race and again ratchets up the difficulty for Tester.

Doable. Will WE step up to the plate? Tester won in a mid-term('18) and in '12 when Obama was at the top of the ticket. No excuses but incumbency is a tough nut to crack.

We don’t control anything. The radical left and RINO wing of the Demoncrat party do with the enablers in the Republicant party do.

I hate to say this but after yesterday’s vote does it really matter? Republicans are acting worse than democrats on certain things.

It appears our higher ups are trying to buy the seat with this Sheehy fella. Not good. He’s rather young to be so successful. Methinks he’s unvetted.

Primary is June 4.

The GOP wants to spy on me, tax me, bankrupt my kids and get us killed in for-profits wars.

Sheehy has competition for the nomination. Brad Johnson. 73 years old. Perennial candidate. Loser written all over him. It appears the GOP will not put up a fight if and when Sheehy is exposed. Defeat from the jaws of victory.

Sheehy is 10 years removed from a medical discharge. All kinds of money in the last 10 years. Plane crash he blamed on his instructor. Where does his money come from to fight fires? Answer-government contracts. It appears the GOP voters will have to carry him over the finish line, something we won’t do.

That article about Sheehy, about whom I know nothing, doesn’t look like great research.

First of all, the service academies are more difficult to enter academically than the Ivy League. Not only did he get in, and graduate, but his wife did, too.

His service record looks pretty clean to me. Details on the wound are lacking. Purple Hearts are usually pretty certain.

As for where the money came from, the reporter never mentions the wife. Entrance to the academies very very seldom happens unless the applicant is from a good family. They can’t jump through all the hoops otherwise, particularly getting a congressional recommend, which is required (and of course, which the Ivy League schools do not require).

This article reads like “It is not clear what all these answers are, and I’m not going to put any time into getting them.”

Jon Tester votes for every leftist dream until a few months before Election Day when he becomes a McCain cross the aisle type and casts an occasional meaningless vote in favor of tightening the border.

If Tester thought the odds were too great against him, he would have announced his retirement like Joe Manchin did. Montana has more of a union presence than other inland Western states. While what is left of the white working class has been moving away from the Democrats, it can be offset by liberal upper income migrants from the West Coast and elsewhere.

I can’t understand how overwhelmingly “red” states like MT and WV keep sending demholes to the senate….

Matt Rosendale, who we thought was a real fighter, quite the race against Tester because of death threats. He’s not even going to run for congress again. What does he know? It was very sudden that he quit being a big fighter And became a quitter.
I lived in Montana for about 10 years. The eastern side of the state was very Republican but the western side was completely liberal and the population growth from CA an WA was exclusively on the Western side. People are few and far between on the eastern half.

To the swing voter it will matter.

*If Tester thought the odds were too great against him, he would have announced his retirement like Joe Manchin did.*
Mancin is 77. Tester is has time for 2 more terms should he wish to catch up.

Republicans are their own worst enemies.

It happens in the house too. Republican voters in safe districts reelect RINOs who vote with the Democrats more than they do with the Republicans. The Democrats would never let that happen in Democrat safe districts.

Actually, Montana is not overwhelmingly “red” it’s more “purple” and with the out of staters moving in it’s becoming more blue with each passing year.

Additionally, Montana is not particularly partisan most folks around here don’t care about politics we got lots of more important things to do...

I’d venture to say most up here just don’t care who gets elected...
