In the coming days Israel will have to make historic policy decisions, ones that could shape its fate and the fate of the entire region for generations to come. Unfortunately, Benjamin Netanyahu and his political partners have repeatedly proven that they are unfit to make such decisions. The policies they pursued for many years have brought Israel to the brink of destruction. So far, they have shown no regret for their past mistakes, and no inclination to change direction. If they continue to shape policy, they will lead us and the whole Middle East to perdition. Instead of rushing into a new war with Iran, we should first learn the lessons of Israel's failures over the past six months of war.

I see it as that Bibi and the IDF were overconfident in their defense just before 10/7. They saw Hamas as primitive savages. They probably saw it as an intrusion. But not on the scale of 10/7.

Rather, not fully disarming Hamas is due to the pressures from liberal Western democracies with their liberal Hamas sympathizers,.

It was essential to fight and defeat Hamas, but this could have been done even without killing so many innocent civilians.

Which is due to the Hamas tactics, of operating in the midst of civilians, who elected Hamas, and whose innocence is overall debatable

and most of its population are now famished refugees. .

If an all-out war breaks out with Iran and its proxies, to what extent can Israel count on the United States, the Western democracies and moderate Arab states to risk themselves for us, and provide us with vital military and diplomatic assistance?

Judging by the response of even key Arab countries, plus the UK, and the consensus that Iran is the problem child and needs to be dealt with, substantial aid can be expected, at least for a time.

The question your homosexual atheist secular humanist avoids asking is, why has Iran not been decisively dealt with before it came to this, and what will more coddling of Iran cost in the long run?

The Netanyahu government failed to exploit its battlefield victories to reach an agreement on the release of all the hostages and to advance an alternative political order in Gaza.

As if the West did not quickly begin to urge restraint, and as if Hamas did not have a Okinawa strategy that prevented a quick victory.

Translation: a two-state solution is the alternative. Which the Palestinians should not have but could if they stopped attacking Israel, and chanting "from the river to the sea."

In other words, “from the river to the sea” means that everywhere that Israel currently exists should be eliminated and replaced with a Palestinian Arab/Muslim country. The implication is the ethnic cleansing (at best) or genocide (more likely) of Israel’s ~7 million Jews as well as the dispossession of the Jewish people, once more rendering Jews as stateless and therefore at the mercy of other nations (with a long history of persecuting Jews) for the safety and well being of the Jewish people.
