Not always. My sister went to see him in the late '70s in Hartford, CT, and the show was short (~70 minutes?). He was arrested shortly later on a drugs charge.
To his credit, when scalpers were gobbling up the tickets in Hartford, he added a second show on one tour. Not quite enough demand in Hartford at that time for two shows at premium prices, so the scalpers got stung.
