“The U.S. government does not require elected officials to disclose dual-citizenship, and there is no restriction that bans dual citizens from holding elected office or positions within our government.”

Under the dual citizen theory, Venezuella could grant citizenship to any person who is elected President of the United States and all of a sudden that person would become ineligible.

Constitutional requirements for presidential candidates:

- Be a natural-born citizen of the United States
- Be at least 35 years old
- Have been a resident of the United States for 14 years

People would be in an uproar - and they would likely be forced to resign, but nothing in the law specifically precludes it.
