“Acid claimed Lennon about 1965, and also Brian Wilson. Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd, and an infamous episode with Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green.”
Brian Wilson’s episodes of psychosis apparently began in 1964 predated his LSD use. Their beginning coincided with his introduction to high-grade hashish. Unpopular to say it, but his drug-induced mental-health struggles likely began with THC rather than LSD. The coke in the ‘70s certainly didn’t help, but what really seemed to do the greatest damage were the mountain of prescription psychotropic meds that Gene Landy pumped into him in the ‘80s.

Yeah, so he was nuts, and THEN dropped a bunch of Acid? Allrighty then.
But you’re trying to avoid linking LSD with these coo-coo for cocoa puff celebrities, for whatever reason. Good luck with that. Brian was an undeniably gifted musician, but it’s also undeniable all those pharmaceuticals just scrambled his noodle. I don’t believe this is a “popular” or “unpopular” opinion, it’s just self evident fact and corroborated by everyone around him. The fact that the Beach Boys was a huge operation just meant everyone wanted to dip their beak in the trough. Very sad.
At one point they were lodging lawsuits against each other.

Certainly possible, but psychosis often manifests at about that age or a bit younger anyway with no drug involvement.
