In any event it was a hefty golden nose ring, and the fact that she wore it immediately implies that her septum was already pierced. Possibly even occupied by a lesser quality nose ring.

Either her septum or the side of her nose. Most middle eastern women with a nose ring, and there are many, have it in the side of the nose .Nose rings in the septum are more of an African thing.
