I’m saying society at the time had protected classes notionally little different than today. Practically, they were far different. It was so long ago, folks forget Northern and Western Europe was the most violent place on earth for much of man’s existence.
Still not seeing how you got from "A" to "B."
What is your thesis? Don't be coy! Don't beat around the bush! Spit it out! Be concrete!
You seem to have strayed far from the original topic of this article, and the other comments appended to it.
I also dispute your claim about N. and W. Europe.
Regards,
My overriding thesis is that this time is hardly different and our experience is hardly new or novel.
I replied to the post about Europe being done.
I followed up with comparisons to today.
It seems fairly straightforward.
We can dispute that another time.
