I predict the opposite.
You know there will be protests and groups trying to get attention. After all, the democrat party has spent many many decades cultivating grievance groups, making them feel important.
However, I think most of them are ‘team players’, and don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them.
Secondly, remember that the democrats are primarily in power of the federal government and the deep state. They will do everything they can to prevent anything overshadowing the show they put on inside. It will be the exact opposite of January6 which was not only negligently unprepared for, it was intentional, and all the evidence supports it.

IMHO, the DNC made a tactical mistake having their convention in Chicago.
Illinois is now a very blue state, not at all a battleground state. They won’t sway any swing voters by having their convention there.
The RNC, OTOH, is having theirs in Milwaukee, very much a battleground state. It was a Republican victory in Wisconsin in 2016 that first broke the “Blue Wall” and paved the way for a Trump victory.
Little things add up to big victories.

That being said there is no place for ours as all cities are blue. So what’s left?
This is why the Democrats are so eager to discard the Electoral College. They control all the big cities so they would easily control the presidency for the forseeable future with the urban votes. Rubes from Kansas be damned!
What that means is that there is no American city worth having a convention in so why bother? Isn’t that a good campaign topic? Find a ‘private’ enclave. Where should it be? Buenos Aires as Milei gets more popular? Too far. Lanai where Bill Gates got married and rented all the helicopters to keep out the paparazzi? Too blue. I’ve suggested the Casino building on Catalina island. Park cruise ships there for hotels-probably insufficient docks. Let them riot in LA-not our problem. Perhaps a big military base-dare protesters to enter. Empty the barracks and send the GI’s TDY to Vegas. Not with the rats in control of the DOD. Perhaps 2028. Think about it.
Trump is to give a rally at MSG but have not heard a date yet. I would definitely be up for that!
