But the real point is pre-announcing our intention. It is the only deterrent we have. Unfortunately, it will not happen. At least not until the casualty count reaches a few million and then you'll see every liberal in the country screaming for blood. I would hate to be the President then.
This is religious war
For the terrorists it certianly is. But not for us, that's why we're winning and they are losing. When an official of the US govenment like Tancredo makes an incredibly dumb statement like he did all he's doing is handing more ammo for the terrorists to use.
Unfortunately, we should have made that announcement
right after 9/11. No Afghanistan; no Iraq. No homeland
security.
Doesn't history say that civilized nations fall because
they just can't fight with the same vengeance as the enemy?
But with every side of the political map attacking Tancredo, instead of making it an actual threat, we signal to our Muslim enemies that we are took weak to defeat them, and only enable their religious struggle against us.
There is no strategic value in attacking a damn stone in the middle of a tiny city. That's what you don't understand. It would only serve to enrage many people who weren't enraged before, thereby making the enemy more powerful instead of less. You just get off on the thought of attacking a muslim holy site, you have no understanding of conflict and it's resolution. Your 11 years in intel is highly dubious unless it was spent in the mail room.
