Fist I would like to address a political issue. It seem to me that our politicians have outgrown the people they have sworn to help . When our country had two parties "R" & "D" it seemed to work as a counter balance between Ideologies. As Our system evolved the parties became more about power both their own and then there parties. It has grown so out of control they are willing to walk away from very important issues to the American people and then blame the other party for delaying or shelving important bills. Social security, health care and energy will never be fixed because these Bozo's are content to use these hot button issues as ways to shed a bad light on the other party. I find myself not being able to accept the other view because I myself want to take an ideologic view. If this can happen to me. I would bet a whole lot of other people on all sides have fallen into this trap, then imagine what it does to our professional politicians. We could limit terms but I fear this would only reshape the problem in other ways and most certainly only make the media richer. Media has also taken very important roles in the election of our politicians. Would Lincoln be nominated in today's system? Can any of us tell which network is democratic or Republican slanted? Lets face it folks our system is not broken its the technology and the speed in which we all are getting the news. Our Political system has not adapted or could it be our technology has ran over our political system.

Welcome to FR.com.

When the Congress voted to limit membership to 435, they essentially screwed the Nation forever. My great grandfather had a closer relationship with Washington then I or my posterity will ever realize.

The 17th Amendment did even more to wreck the place.

The American Experiment is over, and the truth is, the best news about that is that the rascals who are responsible for all of this will also not get out of here alive. A Pyrrhic victory for thinkers, indeed.

They sure have done quite a bit toward wrecking the childhoods and lifestyles of our offspring with their largess and hypocrisy.

IMHO, the news media technology has much more far advanced that the political system, to me we are revisiting the exact same issues every time there is an election. They ALL promise to fix it, but it only gets worse.

IMO, the only thing that really seems to matter to me any more is the Foreign Policy, by the time I retire, or if i get to retire, I truly believe all the other things you mentioned are going to be gone. So that leaves one thing, my freedom and safety to live what is left in a country where all the fighting is SOMEWHERE else.

very thought out, and I actually had to google the 17th amendment. to include my thoughts I can only insist on very controlled and restrictive term limits on the congress from creating an even a bigger exclusive club.

The solution is simple; eliminate all lawyers and their siblings.
