Your are correct there! Elena Kagan has been serving as the Solicitor at the Supreme Court, and she is the one who decides which cases go forward to be heard by the Justices.

No, only cases where the government is the plaintiff. Any one can appeal a case to the Supreme Court, they don't even have to be a lawyer. The court gets thousands of appeals every year and each and every one of them gets reviewed by one of the justices, almost always in the form of a synopsis prepared by one of their law clerks. Once a week all the justices meet and vote on these cases and decide which ones will me heard by the full court and which will not. So the fact that this case has made it this far to the Supreme Court is not surprising. As I said other cases have as well. But the court has denied all the Birther cases that they have reviewed so far, and I doubt this one will be picked up either.

That's because he made it up. He's talking about this Snopes urban legends forum thread, where they posted an e-mail rumor they'd received, which claimed Obama was born in Kenya.

Apparently, Polarik thinks that when an urban legends site posts an urban legend they've received, that means they're actually endorsing it. Which is ridiculous.

Your post says it is an AP story, where is the link?

It's certainly not written like an AP story. It's written like a hoax.

Run by the Annenberg Foundation. Walter Annenberg was one of the great newsmen and philanthropists this nation produced. He also happened to be the Ambassador to Great Britain during the Nixon administration and hung around with well known lefties Ron Reagan, Bob Hope, & Bing Crosby.

“Factcheck .org is owned by Annenberg of Chicago..
Obama sat on the board of Annenberg dispersing up to 60 million dollars a year..”

Pakistan was not on the “cannot travel to” list in that timeframe.

If I am mistaken then please link up the State Department travel ban.

The passport question still remains, but it is NOT connected to a supposed ban. By linking them you give critics an easy out, they can point to the lack of a US ban on travel to Pakistan to discredit the claim.

0bama did go to Pakistan, legally as far as we know. What passport he used is the issue., and who did he meet with there? We know who he went with.

I am well aware of Snope’s reputation. But I was skeptical of the story so I googled (another lefty site I know) the first sentence of the alleged AP story. The first thing that came up was the Snopes piece.

I guess I have a hard time believing that people believe so much of the crap that comes via the internet.

************

People will believe what they want to believe. Lots of the libs fervently believed every lie about Bush, didn’t they?

There are plenty of people who continue to spread stories even after they know the stories are false. You can’t tell me that everyone that’s still passing this particular e-mail around doesn’t know it’s been debunked.

Snopes, aka the Mikkelsons, are liberal liars and frauds. They claim that they do not receive any money for their posts yet front page has ads on it. They also were running Malware on their site - which has since been removed.

I’m not the only one who says this. Do a search for Snopes on Ask.com, not Google who has scrubbed their archive clean of sites that debunk Snopes.

Here’s a clip called, “The Truth Behind Snopes.com” (http://jeremysarber.com/2009/07/29/the-truth-behind-snopes-com/)

.........

This will make your head spin trying to figure out who is telling the truth and who is not, but if you’ve received the email below about Snopes.com, I imagine you are looking for the facts.

First the email…

For the past few years www.snopes.com has positioned itself, or others have labeled it as the ‘tell-all, final word’ on any comment, claim and e-mail.

But for several years people tried to find out who exactly was behind snopes.com . Only recently did Wikipedia get to the bottom of it – kind of makes you wonder what they were hiding. Well, finally we know. It is run by a husband and wife team – that’s right, no big office of investigators and researchers, no team of lawyers.. It’s just a mom-and-pop operation that began as a hobby.

David and Barbara Mikkelson in the San Fernando Valley of California started the web site about 13 years ago – and they have no formal background or experience in
investigative research. After a few years it gained popularity believing it to be unbiased and neutral, but over the past couple of years people started asking questions who
was behind it and did they have a selfish motivation? The reason
for the questions – or skepticisms – is a result of snopes.com claiming to have the bottom line facts to certain questions or issues, when in fact, they have been proven wrong. Also, there were criticisms the Mikkelsons were not really investigating and getting to the ‘true’ bottom of various issues.

When I saw that Snopes had falsely claimed that Obama’s Birth Certificate had been properly validated, I realized something was wrong with either their research and/or their credibility. It seems something is seriously wrong with both.
...........

Snopes’ primary conduits for information are Politifact and Factcheck. What a surprise! I’ve spotted 22 posts where Politifact is referenced either at the top of their list or pretty close to it.

Take a look at the source code for any or all of their posts, check out their keywords (META tag). They use the same keywords, including “Snopes”) in every post that directly link back to Snopes. They are gaming Google!

This is how they get high rankings on search sites.

In every post about Obama, they repetitively and continuously list different permutations of his name, e.g, Barak, Barack, Barrack, Barak Obama, Barack Obama, Barrack Obama, Obama -God forbid someone would spell his name wrong after all this time.

Snopes began believing that Obama was born in Kenya, only to do a 180 after the Kos posted the scam image.

Snopes, themselves, are an urban legend.

I haven’t believed snopes for a few years now since I started noticing they didn’t have concrete investigations and proof of their opinions.

I actually made a reminder this week to contact him and ask him about that April 2008 story. I also have a not to contact Vitter of Lousiana and tell him he absolutely has standing to sue Obama and everyone connected with this overthrow of the U.S Government

Mesta you always make sense but then we have our resident pains in the A$$ trying to rebut everything. They are so clearly “plants”. But then again, this is such a deep rooted corrupt thing that only the country exploding will solve the issue. Why do you think this “dick-tator” in chief” is now assembling his own “well armed army of thugs”. A personal army. Who needs that? Only a dictator!! God Help America. It’s unfortunate that folks thought and continue to think that the mid term elections will be fair or that they will take place at all. This has been long ago taken care of by the proletariat. CO
