My father was shot at on Guam and Okinawa in 1944 and 1945 and would probably have died in the invasion of Japan if Truman had not used the bombs...so I'm not in favor of any apology. The Japanese need to begin by apologizing to all the other Asian nations they wronged--Chinese, Koreans, Filipinos, others.
I knew someone who survived the Bataan Death March and several years as a POW. He just died about a year ago.
My youngest great Uncle died in that march.
Nobody knows how ‘he died a hero’.
I know it effected my grandfather enormously.
War is no game of friggen rules to revisit 70 years later.
It is something to remember so as not to repeat.
