After the CW, my great... grandparents were glad to be shed of a couple of elderly slaves they’d kept around because they’d been with the family forever and couldn’t provide for themselves. Said they were like children that had to have every need met. My family was far from rich so it was a burden. Stories were that about all the family could afford was beans, beans, beans so everyone ate together. There wasn’t dinner for the white folk with scraps for the slaves. It was all the same. Guessing they were sent to their relatives to take care of after the CW.
Do blacks still get points added to their civil service tests? I know they did when applying to work at the post office back in the day.
