No mention of Sandford and Son? "I'm coming Lizabeth!"

“More on that, but first you need to know my backstory...”
“Need” is a strong word. I’ll pass.

The one ‘all-black’ movie which comes to mind is the hilarious “Death at a Funeral”. The movie has been done several times and the British version is certainly not on the same par as the all black movie.

The movie kept us in stitches.
;-)
PS - Ron Glass (Barney Miller days) was also in this film.

I was part of a fortunate generation of Black youth who eventually did get to see people who look like me represented positively on prime-time television. The Cosby Show
Oh, heck. There were more and better black characters on in the '70s BEFORE Cosby. Has she never heard of Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, What's Happening! and even shows like "That's My Momma"? I was a white kid then, and I watched them all, 'cause they were better than what was on the other channels or there was no one to play Monopoly with and I hadn't felt like reading. Even in the '60s, I Spy and Mission: Impossible had important black characters (and Cosby WAS an excellent actor in iSpy, but VERY patriotic). As a very young child I liked Diahann Carroll and her kid Corey in "Julia". Other shows had token black characters (including the unlikely black radio operator in Hogan's Heroes). Tokens from the comics (Franklin in Peanuts and Chuck in Archies) didn't show up at all on TV though.

The Jeffersons was a good sitcom.
It wouldn’t be made now in any way resembling the 70s version.

Linc was cool on “The Mod Squad.” There were also black teachers on “Room 222.” Mannix had a black secretary, and how could we forget Lieutenant Uhura on “Star Trek?” All positive characters.

Akira is good one. The series Bleach is decent and “The Gate” fun.

I forgot about Linc, but I HATED the Mod Squad, and refused to watch it (Tuesdays at 8, odd the things you remember). My sisters swooned over Peter.

Good choice. Still one of my favorites. Wish I could join a "Mystic Knights of the Sea" lodge (I'm sure it's integrated by now !).

That was a really good show. Thanks for mentioning it, I had forgotten the name of it, just remembered it was set in Botswana.

I’m surprised I’ve never heard complaints about the First 48. Almost all the crooks are black, but the cops are, too.
