Wow, I don’t know where to start.

Her Blue Bloods account is particularly stupid as she assumes they are covering up a culture of racist violence in New York against blacks.

So, let’s take a look at the NYPD Firearms Discharge Report of 2015.

http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/analysis_and_planning/nypd_annual_firearms_discharge_report_2015V3.pdf

In a town of 8.5 million people with a 35,000 member department, there were 33 adversarial discharges in 2015.

For sake of argument (and it’s a stupid one) let’s assume that 100% of discharges were aimed at blacks. (or Blacks in her vernacular)

Since blacks comprise 24% of the population, the culture of violence in her eyes would affect .0016% of the population.

Taken across all demographics, the same 33 discharges actually affects .00038% of the population.

Our American culture crosses many racial, educational and cultural latitudes.

Beverly hillbillies and Green Acres was not an accurate portrayal of most Whites (see, I can do that too) but it was actually a biography of some.

To me, Good Times and What’s Happening seemed to both be shows that somewhat accurately portrayed the urban experience. Good families, struggling to make it in a challenging environment. Some of the humor was dumb, but the overall concept seemed good.

The author is actually quite shallow if she thinks she can shoehorn any culture into a TV show.

Shirley Hemphill and Danielle Spencer were hilarious on “What’s Happening,” and their busting of everybody’s chops had nothing to do with race. They were great characters, similar to the “Mama” character played by Vicki Lawrence on the Carol Burnett show and on Mama’s Family.

Festus on Gunsmoke sounds exactly like my Northern Missouri (Allendale, St. Joe, etc.) relatives although the show is set in Dodge City, Kansas. Perhaps the character is from Missouri.
