I ask friends the same question. Responses are all over the place. My own personal policy is to simply leave - immediately.
No reward to stay or to leave those few unfinished French fries behind. but potentially great risk on the downside, to be hit by a flying chair, or worse.
Or maybe hum “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, it’s a beautiful day for a neighbor, would be mine. Could you be mine?”
