As I expected, the bourgeoning revolutionary standing in front of me failed to see the wisdom in ignoring one’s opponents and dedicating oneself to a proactive regimen.

The author is stumbling in the right direction, but statements like this show that he's still not punched his way out of the paper bag. White people are not "opponents" of black liberation. White people want black America to succeed. White people are quite happy, by and large, to live and let live. Capitalism and free markets are not zero sum games. White people do get tired of constantly being taxed to subsidize other peoples' failures, but black leaders who have moved beyond racial shakedown politics will find no shortage of white allies.

When the sober histories of this era are finally written, long after all of us are dead, the judgment of historians will be that black America was massively betrayed by its leadership after passage of the Voting Rights and Civil Rights Acts. Some things only change in generational terms.

There’s a reason why the Jews wandered the desert for 40 years, time enough for everyone not a child in Egypt to die: because they carried the slave mentality with them and were incapable of escaping it. If God knew this about the human nature that He created within us, perhaps we should learn from the experience. Thus, while it was only logical the the pre-Civil Rights Act black leaders would continue as black leaders, so was it also only logical that true progress could only come after they passed from the scene. Note that many are still here...but they’re in their 70s and fading away. Progress will be coming soon.

YES. Just as we want ALL Americans to succeed... as you say, capitalism's not a zero sum game...

White people are not "opponents" of black liberation. White people want black America to succeed.

But admitting that would imply that the cause of black failure might have something to do with black behavior, and inadequate striving to succeed. That is an intolerable idea.
