I have identified several members of both sides of our families, who fought to free the slaves.

A few died during the war.

More were impacted by the war on life length and what would be called PTSD today.

Many women, whose ancestors had long life spans before them, had shorter life spans after the civil war. Both the wives and daughters of service men were impacted. Their female off spring and descendants down to the present went back to living 70/80/90+ years.

My Dad’s mother was one of these women. She died at age 29.
