I’m glad I never was interested in sports. I found it boring. I always thought the Olympics were a crashing bore.
I was into music. I used to be a drummer.
Screw the Olympics. The last Olympian I met and talked to, a real gentlemen, was some guy named “Jesse Owens”. All class, all patriot, all gentleman.
Sorry that a bunch of spoiled leftists and black racists have spoiled the games for the majority of American athletes who are the ignored patriots, gentlemen/ladies, and unspoiled egotists.
PS: Addendum: Just looked up my autograph collection and found that I met another 1936 black US Olympian, John Woodruff, “who won a gold medal in the 800 meter run”, at a National Holocaust Panel Discussion on July 17, 1996(?). The program pamphlet was undated but it would have been on the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Olympics.
Another fine but often overlooked Olympian, gentleman and patriot.
Some of have class. Others, only ass. That’s the difference between “then and now”, “them and whatever we have now crawling out from under the hate-rug”.
There is nothing more pathetic than virtue signaling by pampered athletes...

The Lake Placid Winter games in 1980 are a favorite of mine because of the Miracle on Ice and Eric Heiden winning 5 gold medals in speed skating. The 1984 Summer Games were cool too even if the Soviet Bloc did not show up, Mary Lou Retton carried the show and it was the height of Reagan. Sarajevo winter 1984 was nice too, loved Scott Hamilton and the UK’s Torville and Dean on ice. BTW, IIRC, when the two Black runners from the USA who won the gold and bronze at Mexico City, 1968, they were disqualified for showing the Black Power salute. Shouldn’t these knee pad buster be given the same treatment? Avery Brundage did now play around. I also miss Jim McCay, he was one class act.

Well that’s certainly not going to happen. The revenue flow itself will keep them there not to mention for the host country. But I get what you’re saying.
I used to watch the Olympics, but haven’t watched them since 1972.
Mrs. Chandler and I became newlyweds just as the 1976 Olympics were opening. We had better things to do. Ever since.
