Jussie Smollett will make his post-scandal directorial debut on BET+ with the upcoming film B-Boy Blues.
It will be the first project for the 39-year-old actor since being found guilty in December 2021 of charges stemming from a fake hate crime against himself.
Mona Scott-Young, 55, and her Monami Entertainment has joined the film as a producer and was a key figure in the BET+ deal, according to an article on Wednesday by Variety.
Smollett was sentenced in March to 150 days in county jail after being convicted on felony charges over the January 2019 hate crime hoax.
He served only six days in jail before he was released on bond pending the outcome of the appeal of his conviction.
B-Boy Blues is a film adaptation of the James Earl Hardy novel and stars Timothy Richardson, Ledisi, Brandee Evans, Heather B, Marquise Vilson, Jabari Redd, Broderick Hunter and Thomas Mackie.
'Through our content slate, we are intentional about representing the fullness of the Black experience, including that of the LGBTQ+ community,' said BET+ executive Devin Griffin.
'B-Boy Blues’ is an artful, heart-rending film about the complexity of love – something we all can relate to.'

Hey! Be careful out there! You’re in Trump Country, so hold onto your sandwiches.
Told you he’d get away with it.
“Baby let me Turn your Brown Eye Blue...”
Even the title is plagiarized (Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue). He gives mediocrity a bad name.
Lol. I’ll keep that in mind.
This guy commits a crime, is convicted and sentenced and just does not have to serve his time.
We live in a broken society.
Wait! How is he doing this from his jail cell. Oh, silly me. I totally forgot that he’s friends with the right people and jail cells are not on any of their buckets lists.
He got sentenced but was released pending his appeal. He’s black, so he gets more rights than everyone else.
100s will watch!
Black privilege?
That’s funny...
It was very predictable. A man who has two special privilege cards will never be held to the same standards as normal people.
It was four felonies of disorderly conduct related to giving false statements to law enforcement. He also committed a crime paying his two co-conspirators to join in the fraud and then he perjured himself denying he did it.
It wasn't a "scandal", he committed multiple crimes.
Juicy is above the law. He is a member of a protected class.
He’s French.
You tell me.
You're the one that promotes a blog run by a homosexual.
