House Republicans passed a resolution that would repeal a Biden administration rule tightening federal regulations on stabilizing braces for firearms, an accessory that has been used in several mass shootings in the U.S. over the last decade.
The resolution passed 219-210 nearly on party lines and after a contentious floor debate where Republicans accused the administration of “executive overreach” and Democrats condemned a bill they said would “help kill people.” Two Democrats voted in support and two Republicans voted against it.
The resolution, which was introduced by Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., will now go to the Senate, which could take up the measure as soon as this week. Should it pass, President Joe Biden has promised a veto. Overriding a presidential veto would require two-thirds majorities in the House and Senate.
The new rule issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in January treats guns with the accessories like short-barreled rifles, a weapon that is like a sawed-off shotgun and has been heavily regulated since the 1930s. …

AP Disinformation Warning ⚠️
The Democrats have no problem with people getting killed to further their agenda. Biden’s gun free zones — aka come here for a defenseless target zones — are an example.
I did not see any mention, in the AP article, that these devices had been ruled by the ATF, as legal, for a decade, and the ATF is reversing a decade’s worth of decisions during the Biden administration.
The Congressional Review Act (CRA)[1] is a law that was enacted by the United States Congress as Subtitle E of the Contract with America Advancement Act of 1996 (Pub. L. 104–121 (text) (PDF)) and signed into law by President Bill Clinton on March 29, 1996.[2][3] The law empowers Congress to review, by means of an expedited legislative process, new federal regulations issued by government agencies and, by passage of a joint resolution, to overrule a regulation.[4] Once a rule is thus repealed, the CRA also prohibits the reissuing of the rule in substantially the same form or the issuing of a new rule that is substantially the same "unless the reissued or new rule is specifically authorized by a law enacted after the date of the joint resolution disapproving the original rule" (5 U.S. Code § 801(b)(2)). Congress has a window of time lasting 60 legislative days to disapprove of any given rule by simple-majority vote; otherwise, the rule will go into effect at the end of that period.[5][6]
Ridiculous article.
“Resolutions” are meaningless and have no authority.
“Resolutions” do not go to the president for a veto.
Focus on STRIPPING FUNDING of the various agencies, appropriations nightmares for the DEMONRATS.. You know, things that ACTUALLY matter and not these stupid messaging bills that they KNOW ByeDone will VETO.
“House Republicans passed a resolution”
Once again a blatant insult to our intelligence. Who is dumb enough to believe this would ever go anywhere? They knew this would never fly before they ever started.
“STOP with the stupid MESSAGING BILLS, GOP. Idiots!”
Hear,hear... I am getting sick of them blatantly insulting my intelligence. We are not the brain dead zombies like Democrats.
Bidenskyyyyy’s goatsmellin’ ass needs to be impeached for violating the Bill of Rights, specifically, THE SECOND AMENDMENT!!! Come on GOOBS, get with the program!!!
The more people who die in mass shootings, the better the chances the dimorats will be able to disarm the USA.. Especially if it's young kids,!! They really grove on that...
Now, If your thinking, no one could be that heinous, that low down. Then I ask you to consider all the ten's of thousands of young people who've been killed with fentanyl in the last two years. The rats couldn't care less, they're dancing in their blood.
Are we within the 60 day window? The rule was to go into effect on June 1.
The question would be: When did the 60 day clock start ticking?
I believe June 1 the clock started ticking. The rule itself was announced in May, I believe.
“House Republicans passed a resolution”
Once again a blatant insult to our intelligence. Who is dumb enough to believe this would ever go anywhere? They knew this would never fly before they ever started.
The 5 U.S. Code § 801 - Congressional review code is pretty dense and complex. There are things I do not know, such as whether the pistol-brace rule is a "major rule" or just a "rule".
It is not clear to me when the 60 day clock started.
What are the chances that the Senate will join the House in a joint resolution to overturn this rule?
“This is not wasted. It is shining the light on the issue. Forcing your opponent to take a stand. They do this to us all the time.”
And it is an absolute deceptive waste of time. This con game has made Zero difference in over 200 years. That is not why they do it.
It is all theatrics to get donations from the ignorant who believe their con game. They think we are stupid and are playing us for fools... They are used car salesmen...
I give it about a 40% chance of passing the Senate.
The Senate is close to evenly split; Senators Sinema (AZ), Manchin (WV) and Tester (MT) are all from very Second Amendment friendly states. Those three could swing it, and Sinema and Manchin have made themselves sorta independent of the Democratic Party.
I looked deeper into the Review act. By my reading we are past the 60 day deadline, and it requires a Presidential signature, in any case.
But, I am not a lawyer and it is somewhat complicated.
I’d say it gets 51 votes from the Senate. There are too many veterans, disabled people and old folks affected to allow the ATF rule to stand. It’s also futile not to. It will be stayed in court rather quickly and work it way up the judiciary.
